Hi all I have been visiting for a while, but was shy to post anything on-line.  I have a surgery coming up in on March 28th I am a excited, but also a little bit nervous.  Does anybody have any suggestions on trying to ease the nervousness?  Are there anythings that I should watch out before the surgery?  Also are there any suggestions on getting through the liquid diet? Thanks

Izzy,  First off...welcome to the MN OH Board!   As far as the nerves go - they are perfectly normal...you should be nervous - this is a major surgery and a major change in lifestyle for you - but it will be worth it! Getting through the nerves? Keep busy - get things ready around the house for after surgery - make sure that your food stuff is in order so you have some good variety of things to choose from once you can start eating pureed and soft foods. Get the house cleaned - you aren't going to feel like doing much of that for a while after surgery.  Getting through the liquid diet?  One day at a time, girl!  That is the only way to do it.  It is amazing, however, how full you do feel.   For both of these things? Post here frequently - we will help you get through both things and give you ideas and suggestions on how to do that.  Best of luck to you!  Hope to see you here frequently!

Welcome to the MN board Izzy!  Like the others said keep busy is the only way to make time go faster and to keep your nerves in check.. meditation works great too. As far as the LD goes, for me the 1st day was brutal, but you can have up to 5 boosts and I was in love with Mrs. Grass creamy potato soup mix, I added a bad of shredded cheese to it, and put it in the blender and hit frappe to puree up the tiny pototo bites it was sooo good. just keep your eye on the prize through it and you'll make it through.  Good luck!

Welcome to the MN board....this is the best OH has to offer. I hope you love it here as much as we all do. There is tons of information and knowledge...wonderful and caring friends and plenty of humor too!! It is normal to be nervous...as the others have said...keep busy. Clean those clothets and dresser drawers out...there is plenty that won't fit any more. Be sure to do good things for yourself as well. The Liquid Diet (LD) was a breeze.....I never felt hungry. Don't cheat..it just confuses your body and you have to struggle all the harder. Good luck with your surgery and on the most wonderful journey of your life!! Hugs, connie d

Welcome!  And CONGRATS on the surgery date!  Like everyone said, nerves are normal.  NOT being nervous would be more of a concern!   As for getting through the Liquid Diet?  Decide that it's going to be easy for you!  Seriously, there's never been more clarity for me as far as eating is concerned!  If you can drink it?  It's okay!  If you have to chew?  It isn't.  (Okay, so malts and pop would be bad liquid choices, but you'll already be there in your mind.)  My best bits of advice would be to watch as LITTLE television as you possibly can, because the day your LD starts will be the day every freakin' restaurant commercial ever shot will start showing with alarming frequency!   Spend time on OH looking through the before & after photos, reading profiles & such.  It's a great way to affirm your decision.  Just don't let evil food win - because the guilt you will suffer will be OVERWHELMING if you cheat, and there's the possibility that you will sabotage your surgery date.  The LD is but a blip on the radar screen of life, and you CAN DO IT!!!

Yay, Tammy!!!  I am glad to see you are posting.  I am sure that some of you remember Tammy from the WI coffee. Congratulations on your date - it will be here so soon!!   What is the longest you have been able to stay on a diet?  If longer than 2 weeks, then the liquid diet won't be that bad.  You can do it!!
