Insulted about weight loss tonight

A friend from work quit and tonight was her going away party at a local bar.  A few ex-employees showed up to wish her well.  One guy came up to me and said I looked great, then said I must have lost a ton of weight-the way he said it was insulting...gets even worse... About a half hour before I left another ex employee comes up to me, puts his arm around me and says he wants to talk to me privately.  He then gives me a big hug.  He says to me- you know what's bad about losing weight?  I asked what?  He said that when women lose weight the first place they lose in their chest (he said a different word).  I said thanks for noticing jerk.  He told me that if I gained about 30lbs I'd have a great rack.  I got so mad, I started to raise my voice, another coworker came up to me and grabbed me and said we needed to dance.  I told him, did you hear what that idiot said to me??  He said don't worry about it, he's a @#$%.  I told him he was my hero and we danced a couple of songs (what a sweetie-so glad his wife was ok with him rescuing me) I was really insulted.  I was used to insults when I was MO and then to get 2 insults in one night!!!  It just made me mad.  I know that neither are worth my anger so I'm telling all of you-getting it out-then I'm going to let it go and go to bed. I hope they were blasted drunk Debi and that it was the alcohol talkin...'cuz I would have knocked their clocks if I were there for ya! Seriously...why would someone say that crap?!

They were probably just lovin how you look and had no clue how to PROPERLY tell you...geesh. Hang tough girl because you're doing FANTASTIC and you look GREAT!!! Don't ever let someone else make you feel anything less!

The first guy has always been a jerk.  The Second guy was a friend from work.  He really surprised me.  I thought he was joking at first. You know what else surprised me?? A few months ago, I would have been hurt and would have taken the comments and used them to beat myself up.  But I'm just mad and insulted ( I think I have a right to be).  I guess that shows just how much I really have changed, not just the weight loss, but also my self esteem is better and I'm not letting them make me feel bad.  Instead I'm thanking God that He has changed me INSIDE and out! GRRRR what jerks!  I guess my response to the second guy would have been.   "Yep, and do you know the BEST thing about losing weight is?  Not thinking I have to put up with a$$H***s and comments like that.  I never thought you were such a jerk...guess I was wrong." And here's the sad thing....they probably thought you would like the attention.  MEN...blech!

I would have accidently knee'd them (you know where) and then punched him in the stomach.  Explanation would have been ~~~~~ "Whoops -- this damn weight loss messes with your nervous and muscular system too; weird jerking all the time.  Usually I can control it but insults from stupid people usually make it happen so fast I don't have a choice.  It just happens.  Kinda of like your mouth --- Sorry!!!"   Then walk away......Or sent my 250 pound, 6 foot 3 inch hubby over to kick his ass.  Either one works for me...... Yet more reasons why I don't go to ANY office parties.  These are my 8-5 peeps -- any thing after that belongs to my family and WLS friends. XXOO

Barb, You are TOO funny!  I really couldn't see myself doing that, but then again, I've been doing a lot of things that I couldn't see myself doing before.    I will totally have to remember this...I love the comment about weight loss messing with the nervous and muscular system!!  That cracks me up. I usually don't go to office parties either, but this one was for a friend and she made me promise I would not be the first one to go.  I told her I would stay for the duration for her.  Except for those 2 idiots, I had a blast-got to dance half the night! WOW!  Not sure what to say but at least they are "ex" co workers!!!  Just remember that you are beautiful and they are jerks and ya can't fix jerks!!!  HUGS Hon!

stuff like this, among other reasons, are why my husband and I made a joint committment to NOT attend any office parties.
