What I've Learned So Far In Aus.
If I look out off the balcony I can see Telstra Stadium in Olympic Park where the 2000 games were held.
When I see the word "Sanitarium" quality food is not what my mind immediatly thinks of.
How do they sell unrefridgerated eggs without them going bad? They stock them on the store shelves right next to the canned goods etc.
They broil, steam, etc tomatoes and eat them at almost every meal along with pumpkin.
If you buy a quarter kilo of ham, that's still alot of ham.
Alot of people walk, ride trains or the bus.
You don't see school busses as the kids get a pass at the beginning of each school year to ride the city bus for free. If they forget their pass they pay or don't ride, it doesn't matter how well the bus driver knows them. The busses have hydraulycs(sp) so they raise and lower at each stop to make the step shorter to the cub. Do ours do that?
School uniforms are anywhere from passable to child abuse. Honestly I couldn't make my kids wear some of those without feeling sorry for them.
The cheapest 600ml bottle of Coke we have found so far is $2.40.
Serviettes are napkins, napkins are a sanitary product. Glad I didn't ask for a napkin!
Some words are just spelled different like tire is tyre, etc.
They do not bleep out the "F" word on Chef Ramsey here. You do hear that word alot here.
It was a little cloudy today but I got out for a walk today and again tonight with hubby.
Our weekend plans are to go to the city (Sydney) as the New Queen Victoria and the old Queen Elizabeth are going to be at the Circular Quay (key). We are holding off on the beaches as the storms have some closed due to 8 foot waves and major beach errosion. I'll post when I can so it could be hit and miss.
Blessed are those who can give without remembering
And take without forgetting.
Don't take life too seriously; No one gets out alive.
May You Fly with Eagles
Run with Wolves
Walk with Buffalos
and
Always be my Friend

Australia must be kissin' cousins to Canada---except for eggs not being in a cooler! So many things are similar--like 'napkins' vs 'serviettes', 'kneeling' (hydraulic) buses (for handicap accessibility) and the fact that Canada has been metric for 30 years now. (Celcius vs fahrenheit, lbs. vs kg, inches vs centimetres. Heck, we even spell the British way--honour, valour, colour. But we still beep out Chef Ramsay's potty mouth!
Enjoy your time in the Land Down Under!
If you see Crocodile Dundee, could you get an autograph for me?!

You're living my dream girl!!! I can't wait to see pics and here all about it. I can't believe that you get to be there for 7 weeks!!! Maybe I should give up coffee and by the time I'm 80 I could afford it.
Glad to hear that you're having a good time and learning all sorts of stuff!
Take care and be safe!
