Oldest daughter hospitalized today

Well, it seems the flu Sadie had last week is going to make it's rounds in our house.   Last Thur night DH had it along with Sadie.   Today my almost 18 yr old daughter was throwing up.   She passed out on the basement floor.   She felt the fainting coming on and sat on the steps then woke up face down on the floor.   I was running Sadie to daycare at the time.   Thankfully she didnt' get hurt.     I called the Dr and they had me bring her in.  As soon as she got in the office she threw up and had the diarrhea all over herselr....(sorry TMI)   The Dr came in and looked at her and said we are admitting her for IV fluids.   She was severely dehydrated already.   She has had many many hospitalizations in the past when she's gotten the flu for this reason.   Argggg just as we were getting out from under all these med bills we'll have more...oh well I guess that's the way life goes.   One thing that may come of it though is my hubby said she's probably going to be the one to cause us to meet our out of pocket max of $3200 for this yr so he might as well go through with the WLS.    I was shocked that he said that cuz he's been pushing the idea around for like 2 yrs and was scared to do it.     Well, I better get to work...I have about 2 hrs to go tonight....thankfully I work from home and can make up the time I had to go with her.    I'll be going back down there after dinner with Sadie.   Thankfully she's old enough and doesn't mind being there by herself too much.

Hi Michelle~ I hope your oldest daughter is soon feeling better and recuperating at home. How cool that your hubby is considering WLS!  Mind you, he's had you for a good role model! My prayers that the flu leaves your house for good! Would you be able to join us Saturday March 1 at the Black Woods restaurant?  That's sort of in the planning--might end up being a late supper so Kathryn ((colderbythelake) from Duluth could join us too.

Any time works for me.   I have no real set plans...my sister knows at one time I want to come meet you all so she'll understand.    I'll keep watching posts to see when everyone will be there and I can give someone my cell # so if plans change I can be informed of it.   Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

I met my max out of pocket last year and had the surgery in december. I didn't have to pay a thing. If he is serious start the process because it takes a few months before they even schedule you. I hope your daughter gets better soon!

Thanks a lot!   He does know it's a long process.   He's already been seeing the dietician for a while so that part he's probably close to meeting the requirements.   He actually knows the surgeon very well since he works there at the hospital with him.   He's discussed it with him several times.   One of his workers is going in to have lap band in the next 2 or 3 months which is what he's thinking of having done.   Hopefully she'll help to push him over that edge too.   Thanks for the well wishes for my daughter.   She was resting comfortably tonight...slight pain and nausea but ok.
