cold all the time
Kelly, I had RNY Jan. 2nd. When things settled in, I thought I would freeze to death. My theory was that with no carbs in you, there was nothing to burn for heat. When your diet broadens, things will settle down a bit. But I still get cold like never before in my life.
Hang in it will get better and spring is coming.

Surgery 1/2/'08 @ 227 lbs.......today, 143 and working towards 138.

I think this is one of the more interesting side effects of WLS. A friend of mine who had hers 4? years ago warned me I'd be cold a lot, but I couldn't even begin to grasp that concept. Cold? Me? I don't think so.
MAN, was she right!!! I have a kick-butt space heater going under my desk all the time. I wear CLOTHES to bed where I used to wear nothing but a t-shirt. I mean, long-sleeve sweatshirt, long jammie pants and often, socks. It's a whole different world - and I used to LOVE winter, because it meant I would stop sweating for a few weeks! Now I'm SOOOO looking forward to spring and summer! Last September at ValleyFair, I didn't even break a sweat spending a good 10 hours there on one of the last 90+ degree days of the season! Pre-WLS, I'd have looked like I just came out of the water park by the time I got from the parking lot to the ticket window.
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Sweetie...I haven't been warm since September!! I am just freezing all the time. I am with Darla on this. I used to sleep with little or nothing on and still be too warm. Now I wear layers to bed. I wear at least two tops, pj bottoms, and socks. I have two quilts and two blankets on my bed...plus....I keep my thermostat on 74 degrees..brrrrrrrr!! Being outside is really bad...takes me all day to recover. I too am really looking forward to summer!!
Hugs, connie d
I about live w/my feet on top of my space heater, and I have 1 in almost every room!! I always loved a nice hot bath before, but now it's just about scalding just so I can take the chill off. I'm just over 3 1/2yrs out now and it's been like this since my 1st winter. (the space heaters stay in use until the end of May/begining of June typically) My DH has sort of gotten used to it, but I try to be nice to him every once in a while....I keep thick heavy blankets in all the rooms I use to cover up with, then if he's in the room w/me I don't always turn my heater on. I don't do ANY activities outside in the winter and try to go out as little as possible. And of course pray that winter is over soon and warm temps return ASAP. lol!
Nobody mentioned to me prior to my surgery that I might be colder. After the fact I heard it *might* happen, but that I'd adjust to it. Not a chance so far!!
Hang tight....spring and summer will be here soon.!!!
