Ok.....so how many of you : 1) had your gall bladder our BEFORE WLS?         a) are you super sugar sensitive/ have the "d" dump

2)had your gall bladder out at the same time as WLS?

        a) do you get the "d" dump and or super sugar sensitive?

3)had your gall bladder out AFTER WLS?

a)did it change your dumping/sensitivty? Sounds weird but I am trying to see if there is a connection between WLS, Gall Bladder and Dumping............yep, I'm bored and thought again!

I had my gallbladder out over 10 years ago (haven't had surgery yet) and for the first few years after my gallbladder came out - I dumped seriously after anything really spicy, greasy or high fat. Not so much sugar sensitive.  It had gotten better (less frequent) or maybe I was smart enough not to eat that stuff. :)  I will let you know after I have the surgery if there is a difference.

good luck Linda

Hey Sandie, hope you're enjoying a speedy recovery!  Yes I had my gall bladder removed at the same time as my laproscopic RNY.  Per prior research, I knew I would've paid out of pocket for its removal had there not been any medical reason for its removal, although like everything related to surgery, all was 100% covered with zero copays.  Yes I can dump from sugar, and strive to stay below 12 mg.  I avoid fatty foods, because the flavor is not worth getting potential major discomfort. Have a great day!  Hugs galore, Patti

I had my gallbladder out 5 years prior to surgery.  I dumped a few times after that surgery, but didn't know what was happening until I learned about WLS. I had WLS on 12/31/07 and have not dumped at all.   If you are looking for medical statistics, try going to google.com and select the scholar search.  That will bring up a search box that you can enter in information pertaining the connection between WLS and Gall Bladder.  I'm sure some doctor along the way has researched it.

Don't purchase an article if it looks interesting.  PM me and I've got a ton of places to search for free articles.  I work in medical research, so I have lots of publication connections.

Kelly, I just noticed you live in St. Paul.  Hope to see you at the St. Paul coffee some morning! I had my GB taken out during WLS, so I don't know if it causes dumping. In the beginning, anything fatty or sweet caused me to   I have since "grown" into sugar, so I have to make an effort not to eat much.  I use splenda when I am cooking, but it is the over the counter stuff I really have to pay attention to.  I do believe that eating too much sugar flares up my arthritis.  There is another study for you!!

I had my gallbladder removed 15 yrs ago and had WLS 3 yrs ago.   Ever since the gall bladder removal I cannot eat anything with much fat in it whatsoever.    I also have had the super sensitivity to sugar since WLS.   I can't eat anything over 8 to 10 g of sugar or I'm sorry for the rest of the day.

Hi Sandie-Was going to post and ask how your feeling my friend!!  I hope all is going well with you!! Having the band, I don't think the gb would effect it???  However, I had mine removed years ago.  Since then I can't eat brocolli and almost instantly discovered that I need to "poop" (sorry if tmi) within 15 min of eating anything besides celery it seemed.  That went on for the first ten years!!  lol  Every time we would eat out, I would just get out the door and on our way and my colon would kick in so hubby started a new rule that we don't budge till my inerds do!!!

I had my gallbladder out with WLS, and so far no dumping either way, and I have tried some sugary stuff but no dumping.
