My husband is the same way....he even made a comment in front of my surgeon that he will support me and be there for me, as long as he dont have to change his way of eating.  I didnt know if I should of been upset for his words or not....but I guess right now he is such a picky eater and doesnt like much of what I like, especially healthy things, so alot of nights I actually make two seperate dinners. My surgery is in a week and I talk constantly about it, but he never says much...kindof hurts, but he never has had a weight problem so he doesnt know what I go thru and why I am excited for this journey. Good luck and I hope your hubby helps you through this journey the way you need it!! ~Jodi~

Hi Marsha, Everyone here gave some great advice.  I'll just add my 2 cents as another old-timer....I'm nearly 5 years out, and still check the boards every day, but I don't live and breathe WLS in all respects of my life anymore.  It will ease up.  Alot of folks on the board are newer and more excited because they are in the losing phase and in total awe of their new lives.  That is great.  Enjoy it!  I loved it and am so happy for everyone experiencing it.  Soon it will even out and it will become a rhythm...a lifestyle.  People aren't going to freak out every time they see you for the rest of your life...my friends and I go out and we don't talk WLS - my husband and I don't talk about it everyday...but something may come up here or there.  OK - it will come up when I've eaten stupid and I'm recovering from a dump....oops! Jus****ch those around you.  You can tell when it gets to be too much "me, me, me".  Don't forget what may be going on in your friends and family's lives...and all will be well.

OK OH...this profanity filter is too much.  It drives me to distraction.  You'll see 2 words above bleeped out.  One word is ...just.  The other is....watch.  This attempt to not offend anyone is ridiculous.   ARRRRRGHHHH!!!! ok.  done ranting.

I think you should just ask him if it bother's him that you are so excited about it.  I watch every show on tv about it that  I can, my hubby jus****ches something else or I just put it on the dvr until he is not around.  My hubby likes big women, that is a worry for me, but he know's I need to do this to get healthy.  But seriously, just say honey, I know I might be alittle  irritating right now, be patient with me, and if I am talking about it too much, give me a nice little cue........God Bless, and if your marriage was in trouble before, it doesnt necessarily you will be getting a divorce, if 2 people really are commited to trying to save their marriage......you can survive anything.  You sound like basically a happy lady, I think you are probably just fine

My hubby is very happy with the support I get from the boards and coffee.  I too was worried about switching my focus from my family to me but I'm loving every minute of it.  He was more worried about my future health and living than I was for many years so he is enjoying the switch and is VERY relieved I'm so much healthier and that I'll be around for many more years and will have a good quality of life.   But then again -- I, like Darla, married the perfect man!!!!  My hubby is also very proud of my weight loss and loves being able to get his arms ALL THE WAY AROUND ME!!! Thanks for posting this question -- it was yet another opportunity for me to ask my hubby the question and for him to hear some of your replies!!!  Another reason he loves all you guys too!!!!
