WooooHoooo!! TGIF my friends!
Hope you had a great week!
My week started not so good, but is much better. I have shared with a few, but feel better about sharing with others now. After 21 years, my dear sweet hubby was laid off from his job. Talk about a sucker punch to the gut!! Randy is doing good. I took it harder than he did. We have been doing alot of praying and know the good LORD we see us through. He has a plan and hopes to get rolling on resume sending and the job hunt next week.
So.. Whats on store for your weekend? I am off at 11 today and will be heading up north for my "Women of Destiny" retreat. I AM SO PUMPED...!! We have SPA night tonight and plan on getting some sort of message... Tomorrow and Sunday will be filled with the Lord..! Trying to talk my sister into going snow tubing and she not buying it...LOL
Hope you all have a wonderfully blessed weekend...!!
Dana
I totally agree TGIF!! Friday couldn't come soon enough this week. Sorry about you hubby's job...sounds like you have a great attitude about it at least. Prayers being said that he finds something bigger and better soon!!! It's been one heck of a week here and I can't wait for it to be over. I've been trying to get 20 hrs of OT in at work to get a bonus this week. Well as it always goes when I have this to do at work my baby girl got sick. Either she or I get sick everytime they offer this it seems. She has been throwing up since Tuesday.....it's been yrs since I had one little enough that they don't make it to the bathroom. I'm sooo tired of cleaning it up. Taking her in to the Dr this morning. We thought she was all better yesterday. She refused to eat much but seemed to be much better. I was looking forward to sending her and daddy off to a normal day today. About 8:30 last night she threw up all over again. Then daddy wasn't feeling well either...he started throwing up last night. How much ya wanna bet about Sunday I'll be feeling it??? Ahhhh I'm so tired of it. I am going to end up working all weekend to get these hours in. Daddy took the last 2 days off with her so i have to mess with my hours today to take care of her. Thank God I work from home and have that flexibility. I may not finish up my day until midnight but hey what the heck.
I sure hope everyone else has a great Friday!
Dana have a blast this weekend.....sounds like fun.....wish I was doing something fun like that!! Tell your sister tubing is fun!
Hey Dana - so sorry to hear about Randy. That does suck and I've been there. I have found that most people land on their feet after a layoff and usually end up in a better spot! My husband got laid off 4 years ago from a job that he really loved. He couldn't seem to find anything, found out he still had some VA benefits, went back to school at Augsburg, finished his marketing degree with a 4.0, looked for a job AGAIN for a year...and guess what? He got offered a job by his old company (that laid him off 4 years ago) to MANAGE his old department! So...he got a promotion! It just took 4 years! We survived the 4 years of unemployment and now he is happier than ever and has his college degree!
Everyone's situation is different...but I can almost guarantee that there is a better job out there for Randy. He just has to find it and sometimes those suckers are really hidden and they take some doing to find them!
Good Luck!

It's better to be imperfectly happy than perfectly unhappy.
Thanks Lori! Just the gal I need to talk to. Randy qualifies for VA benefits due to his service in the Marines MANY years ago. I am primary interested in finding out more about any "health" coverage. Considering it is going to cost us an additional $300 per month to add him to my insurance. I asked him to check out what his VA benefits cover and for some reason he is poo-poo'ing that..
For the most part he is a healthy guy so if we atleast have some sort of major medical coverage until he finds that perfect job, that would be awesome. I would love any insight that you may have on this subject.
Have a super day!
Dana
Dana,
I don't know much about health coverage with the VA as my husband is on my plan. However, he gets stuff in the mail about VA health benefits so I know that they are out there. I'd encourage your husband to talk to a VA counselor to find out what he would be entitled to. There are time limits on some benefits. My husband got vocational rehab benefits - so he was able to go back to school and finish. There were also job search benefits.
Now is the time to find out what he's still entitled to. Give him some time to absorb the layoff and I bet he'll get on the phone with the VA eventually!

Sorry to hear about your husband. Must mean there is something better out there for him.
Yes thankfully it is Friday! Been home yesterday and today sick. Hoping to get to a coffee tomorrow morning. Will have to wait and see how I feel. Sunday is the start of the Nascar races, so will be glued to the TV. We were invited to dinner and to go out on Saturday night. But I think it is going to be a very impromptu weekend and whatever happens happens.

Dayner! I miss you!!! We need to plan a get together soon so I cna give you a big hug! And from the sounds of it - you could use a few big hugs right now. Sorry to hear about Randy's job - what a major bummer. My prayers go out to you guys - just remember that when God closes a door He always opens a window - just keep feeling around for that window and eventually an opportunity will present itself to him!
Have a fab weekend at the retreat! Sounds like a blast.
As for me, today is the last day of my vacation week. It's been nice, but I'll tell you eating is so much harder when I don't have a schedule - this week has been full of weird body things - I'm going to have my annual labs done a little early to try and figure out what's going on - nothing serious (I think) but I'll be much more content when I can figure out why my body is constantly shaking.
Anywa - my weekend is pretty uneventful - more decluttering to do, so I best get to the rest of these posts (procrastination at it's finest).
Take care!
