so yeah

I called AGAIN to my insurance company and asked for a manager.

guess what?

WLS IS covered!!!  The ONLY requirements she saw on the policy were BMI (BMI of 40 or greater OR a BMI of 35-40 w/co-morbs)

OMG

I am even more confident this IS going to happen

is it February 20th yet????

PS: anyone with UHC are welcomed and invited to chime in on their own insurance experiences!

Peach, I am only going to share this because I had some major insurance hurdles and found out a lot during the process. I pray this isn't the case for anyone, but will share just so you know that you've asked all the questions you could. Make sure this rep. is able to provide your company specific benefits. As we found out with my husband's insurance, due to the company he works for, only certain call reps were able to look at our specific policy and answer company related policy questions. The other reps only could look at the general coverages. Sometimes they give you the "general" overview of WLS benes and not your specific benes related to individual surgery types. Find out how Dr. B.'s office codes the DS and specifically ask for your benefits related to that surgery code. Also, they can provide you the specific criteria needed to meet for the surgery, so ask for them to fax that to you so you have it in writing. This will also help Danette out (Dr. B.'s assistant who deals with the paperwork). Good luck!!!
