not loosing
Hi, I had my RNY lap on Jan.3rd 2008, I've lost 30 pounds, but since Feb. 2nd I haven't lost???? I went in for my 6 week appointment and told the nurse, she said it is a little abnormal not to loose at this stage. I've been nauseous on & off through the day so it's hard to eat & get my water in. I walk on my treadmill 60 min. a day and recently started working out on the home gym. I'm not a patient person, especially when I don't eat much and don't loose. Any idea's?
Thanks.
Not enough water can be part of the problem, which in turn can also cause the nausea (vicious circle). Also, your 60 minutes of exercise could be making inch changes instead of pound changes right now - if you know you're doing the right things, try and be patient.

Mary is correct also remember that now you have to eat. If you do not get in enough protein your body will go back int o starvation mode and will save every little bit you eat because it figures that you are just going to starve it again. I had alot of problems with nausea after surgery but as my nurse said sometimes you just have to do what you have to do even if you don't want to . hang in ther If your not losing lbs you may be losing inches .
The others are right...it could be a water or protein issue. Don't get lax on those no matter what you have to do. You are losing inches even without weight loss....this happens a lot more then you think.
Everything will be fine....you will see.
If you continue with the nausea or have any other symtoms contact your surgeon.

Congrats on your loss to date! Don't worry about your body taking a break. It is common for you to "stall" in the actual decrease in weight, while your body takes a little time to shrink and adjust to the loss. That's a good thing! My body went into a lose/stall cycle in the second month, and it maintains that pattern to this day. I lose for 2 weeks, very quickly the first one, much more slowly the second week, and then I stall for the next 1.5-2 weeks. During that stall, my clothes get baggier. I don't know if anybody loses steadily, but don't worry if the scale doesn't move. Make sure you are eating and drinking. Are you drinking enough water to make up for what you lose in your 60 minutes on the treadmill? Slight dehydration can cause nausea, and if you are only getting the 64oz a day, you are most likely dehydrating. It's surprising how much water we need to walk on those treadmills for an hour. You can call up to the surgery center and talk to their nurse on call though, or leave a message for your nurse clinician. Heck, you can call Dr. Baker, they are all pretty good at getting back to us in a timely manner. I had a few moments when I wanted to hear from him, but didn't feel it was exactly a pager emergency, so I just called and left a message with his office staff.
Christi,
Yes, I called the nurse today, I saw her last Thursday too. Dr. Baker is going to call me tonight. I only get about 40 oz. of water in and 40 g. of protein. I'm just so nauseous all the time it's hard to eat & drink. The nurse said she wants me to get my iron and B1 checked and that maybe Dr. Baker would give me a nauseous medicine to take so that I can get fluids down better. I did measure myself and I have lost in inches. Thanks, Kelly
