Waiting for approval

I am about ready to explode, I have been waiting over 2 weeks now to find out if my insurance is going to approve my gastric bypass, its pure torture......how long should I wait before I call the hospital. On the 15th it will be 3 weeks since I got the surgeon's approval......I have triwest (tricare) anybody have that? Thanks, this is nerve wracking!

Hi! Wouldn't hurt to call and see! They say to give it 4-6 weeks depending on you insurance! Each insurance is different tho! Hang on and your in the norm for the nerves part!

Hi Shannon! Wanted to welcome you to the site. The MN OH board is the GREATEST! There are soooo many wonderful people on here that will give you the support you need. Congrats on your surgeons approval and good luck with the insurance approval. You are SOOOOOO normal with the nerves....just about everyone on here went through the same thing. Personally, I would call tomorrow and just ask where your approval is in the process and how long they normally take. Then, call the next Monday, etc. Here's hoping the news comes quickly for you. Come back and let us know what happens.

Thanks Ladies! My hubby said he was going to call TriCare tomorrow, he can find out what is going on for the insurance part anyway....see what they are saying, see if we will have to do any fighting. I am hoping to do this the first week of March, need to know soon, lots to do before then for work, I will have to work way ahead. The liquid diet will stink, I am a food service director in a nursing home, so not only will I see food alot, I will be going through the kitchen and doing orders, LOL. Ohhhh I love slim fast

Thanks ladies, my hubby is calling TriCare tomorrow to see if he can light a fire under them and find out where stuff is in the approval department. I was truely hoping to have surgery by the first week of March. I am a food service director, so the liquid diet will be difficult working with all the food and doing orders, but I will remember the great outcome I will have as a result of my hard work I can do it! 2 weeks is nothing right? Anyway, thanks so much!
