Bad Starbucks!

Guess I will not be drinking Starbucks anymore! ! ! Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to let them know how much they liked their coffees and to request that they send some of it to the troops there. Starbucks replied, telling the Marines thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops their brand of coffee. So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should not support them by buying any of their products! I feel we should get this out in the open. I know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn't mean we don't support the boys on the ground fighting street-to-street and house-to-house. If you feel the same as I do then pass this along, or you can discard it and no one will never know. Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be there again when I deploy once more. Semper Fidelis. Sgt. Howard C. Wright 1st Force Recon Co 1st Plt PLT PLEASE DON'T DELETE THIS . . ALLOW IT TO BE PASSED TO ALL IN MEMORY OF ALL THE TROOPS WHO HAVE DIED SO THAT WE MAY HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE TO SUPPORT THEM OR NOT! ! ! Also, don't forget that when the Twin Trade Towers were hit the fire fighters and rescue workers went to Starbucks because it was close by for water for the survivors and workers and Starbucks charged them! ! !

This definitely isn't true!  Every Starbucks I go into (and believe me - I go to a lot of them) has a bin where patrons can buy a pound of coffee to be sent to iraq for the soldiers. I don't believe that story for a minute.

Honey, you need to google this, because this same Sgt. apologized and said he had his info wrong and should have did more research.  I found this.  He wrote a follow-up email, here it is:

Dear Readers,

Almost 5 months ago I sent an e-mail to you my faithful friends.  I did a wrong thing that needs to be cleared up. I heard by word of mouth about how Starbucks said they didn't support the war and all.  I was having enough of that kind of talk and didn't do my research properly like I should have.  This is not true.  Starbucks supports men and women in uniform.  They have personally contacted me and I have been sent many copies of their company's policy on this issue.  So I apologize for this quick and wrong letter that I sent out to you.

Now I ask that you all pass this email around to everyone you passed the last one to.  Thank you very much for understanding about this.

Ohmigarsh SweetSue!  I've got snopes.com bookmarked in my browser, plus I receive weekly or bi-weekly Emails from them regarding recent 'Urban Legends.'  Just a heads up:  any time you receive an Email that seems too good to be true, or highly sensational, please check it out its validity on snopes.com     I couldn't even say how many times I've replied to erroneous 'forwards' with the reputable website.  What do 'ya think about that, eh?!  Hugs galore, Patti (with the fun buds out on the Vancouver 'wet coast!"  P.S., I've loved going to Mexico, because there are more Canucks there than any other groups, and it's so fun visiting them in "Oh, Canada!"!
Never let your memories be greater than your dreams.

That's been going around for a year or two now and as everyone has said it's not true.  The Starbucks over by my house takes coffee donations and ships them to Iraq.  You buy a bag of ground coffee and write a well wish on it if you like and put it in a basket that gets shipped.  They post photos and letters from the soldiers *****ceive it on the wall.  As far as the Twin Trade Towers, this is the first time I've heard that.   It was -17* when we woke up today with a wind chill of -30*

So Starbucks isn't guilty!  Now I can enjoy the (very****asional cup when shopping at Safeway. Safeway even has carts with cupholders in the front so you can enjoy without spilling.  Sweet deal for Starbucks! OUR windchill this AM was -40--which is the same C and F.  I went to Safeway early last evening, and the wind was ferocious, especially over large parking lot. Like to take  your breath away!  Aren't we supposed to get spring sometimes in the near future???
