Off Topic... Any divorcee's deal with Alimony?

I am seriously considering getting a divorce and I am the "bread winner".  Anyone knows how alimony works?  Is there a certain percentage I will have to pay my husband or is it really individualized based on a judge?  I have no idea how this works.

Hi I am not divorced but one of my daycare families got divorced and he was the bread winner and they were married for 10yrs and he has to pay up the ass for her and the two kids.  Most of daycare, medical, and he pays her alot each month to live on.  She said he has to pay for the custom that she has adapted living too.  basically she gets to live like she is still rich.....  anyways thats my 2 cents.  good luck to you!!!!!!!!!!  Hugs Marsha

Debbie, I think it really depends on so many factors - such as how long you were married, if your husband is capable of working, kids, house, assets etc. etc. etc.

I thought it was something like 21% of your income plus the extras like dayscare, and medical.  Not sure but I would contact a lawyer to make sure everything is fair.

I already pay all of the medical and daycare expenses.
