I have been weaving back and forth in my heart about surgery and  all the hoops and cost the Mayo Clinic here in Rochester has one go through. It doesn't seem to matter to them one bit until they discover your insurance may not pick up the cost of what there requirements are. They don't seem to help you with this process either. Yesterday the Nut said she would see after I go through there 12 weeks session IF I am ready for surgery .... they will not even consider the type of surgery I feel more comfortable about and said they would see. Red flags red flags for me. It is my body not theres! GEEEZZZZZZZ! Anyway I have put them on hold told them I need to rethink things and we [hubby and I] will drive up to St.Paul and check things out in April and go from there and see if there system is more people friendly. Yikes you would think that for being such a well known medical center they would be more people friendly.  I agree with the other two that there are many good options up here in the Twin Cities.  I hope you can find a good fit for you!

Thank you, I just realized that I started this journey right after my brother died wondering if that was  a way of not thinking about his death. I really only know of one Dr. in the Cities Dr. Kelly if someone has more info I would truly appreciate it. Janie

Hey, I know what you mean!!! Their program is near impossible. I am originally from the Rochester area and had checked out their program a few years ago... decided it wasn't for me. about a year and a half ago I had someone suggest Gunderson Lutheran in La Crosse. I love them there. Both Dr's Kothori and Dr. Baker are great. Chris Larson & Laurie are hoots to. I got top notch care from all of them, right down to the dieticians. They treat you like a real person, and they really do care. It took me 6 months begining to end. They were also good about scheduling multiple things on the same day since I was coming from so far away. I know a number of different people from the Rochester area who have had their surgery there. Even tho I have moved to Shakopee I still drive to La Crosse for all my follow up visits. I know there are some great doctors up here. But this bunch got me through this surgery. If you have any questions about them Let me know. I would be glad to answer them if I can.

I am not short... I am fun sized!!

My surgeon is out of the U of M and I loved him.  He was great, well, is great.  I don't care for some of his staff though.  And sometimes the wait is long.  But otherwise, good. Best of luck to you in trying to find what is best for you. Debi
