Four Years Out

Its hard to believe that it has been 4 years since I had my surgery. I meet with Dr I yesterday for my check-up which was pretty much uneventfull. As I was walking down the hallway to my surgeons office at the U, I had time to reflect and think about how much this surgery has changed my life. How much traveling and living I have done in the last 4 years all the airline flights I have been on and all the 5k and other activities I have accomplished, things I would have never even considered at 375lbs! Is keeping my weight in check easy? well I can only say this that Its not easy. that after the honeymoon period I really do have to watch what I eat and stay away from processed carbs and try and eat healthy and exercise.I don't as I found out when I had my plastics that yes I will gain weight!! This surgery is what it is  a tool to try and keep you in check eating less so you won't gain the weight if you eat properly. to this day I am still happy that I have had this surgery and I tell you what I will go on Oprah anytime and disput her!! Good luck to everyone in your journey and remember to do something everyday to get active! You don't have to run a marathon to keep in the plus! Jim

Congrats Jimmy on passing the 4 year mark. I'm coming up on 3 years and I'm still amazed at the things I've gotten to do with less weight.  Maybe next year skydiving... Hang in there Jimmy, just knowing it is only a tool and not a miracle cure all is the most important part, well that and using that tool.

Thank you very much for the words of encouragement, Jimmy and congratulations on the long term weight loss.  I'm coming up on one year and I don't want to be one of those people who uses this as a quick fix and then regresses back to their old selves.  It's great to hear that there are people who do things the right way and enjoy the success over long periods of time.  Thanks again. Al
