First Liquid diet challenge....and I haven't even started!

Hey y'all! So, I start my liquid diet on Tuesday!  (Yay!  Surgery is getting close!) I thought that I would be able to get under the radar at work, because there are no birthdays during my entire liquid diet.  This was great because we always do potluck to celebrate.   Well, one of the other girls decided that for Valentine's day we should do potluck.  Well, I figured since I wasn't going to eat, I wouldn't have to bring anything.  I guess I always thought that was the rule, but apparently not.  So, I figured I'd bring chips and salsa, since I wouldn't have to cook it and I could just throw it out there and everyone could have some.  Nooooooooooooooooooo...everyone is bugging me to bring different things because I am "the chef in the group".  I have told most of them why I don't want to be involved, etc.  They just don't seem to understand. "Oh, well you don't have to eat it or anything......"   What the heck is that ...would they want to be cooking a bunch of food if they can't eat it for two weeks?!?!?!?  Anyway, I realize that this will be an ongoing thing in my life now, but I am darn sure certain that I'll want to cook again and I know I'll get to eat again.  So, short of skipping out on work, what the heck should I do here to keep the peace in the office?   Jeanne

Don't let them bully you. Bring your chips and salsa. Heck! Don't bring anything. If you are not participating, why should you be expected to bring anything? If they don't understand that, then that's their problem... not yours! Stand your ground and be STRONG! Good luck!!! Lori

Well, with attitudes like that they certainly are only co-workers, not friends.....so if it were me, I'd be firm.  I've decided to bring chips & salsa, but I'd be happy to share the recipe for blah blah blah if you'd like to make it! Here's your first test in standing up for the new you!

Hi Jeanne,

I agree with what Lori said - however if you want to be a smart ass you could give them a grocery list and your per hour charge for personal chef services and delivery charges.

Best of luck on the liquid diet.

Linda
