Hello, I am new here, I was going to ease into this but all of a sudden things have progressed really fast. I met my surgeon for the first time this past Monday and set a date of April 8th for RNY.  But I just got a phone call and we have moved the date up to Feb. 21 ~ two weeks.   EEK!  I'm nervous, excited, shaking, and need some words of encouragement and advise.  I know I can wrap my brain around it but this is huge. HELP PLEASE!!

First off welcome to the board!! Second you are COMPLETELY normal.  You are having surgery and everyone gets nervous/excited/scared all at the same time!  I was the same way and it has been the best thing I have ever done for myself.  Just remember all the preperation you did before hand and that you KNOW this is what you need to do!  It is a huge thing but believe me in a few months you will realize what a great thing this is!! Good luck we will be thinking of you  Kristi

First of all WELCOME!  I think you will enjoy it here.  This is such a wonderful place to come when you are feeling all those things, which is totally normal by the way.  I think we all felt them prior to our surgeries.  It's so awsome that your date was moved up; you may be a little scared right now but you are ready for this.  You are making changes that will allow you to live healthier; how exciting is that.  Please feel free to lurk or post or whatever you need to do to get you through this time.  We are all here for support and we all need it from time to time.  I wish you the best.

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!   How cool that everything is moving fast - doesn't give you a chance to get cold feet (maybe!).  It's totally normal to be nervous, we'd be scared for you if you weren't.  Rest assure that you are making the best decision ever though!  You won't regret it!  If you've read any of the posts, such as Christi's one about finding her bones - you'll know that there are many, many reasons why everyone on this board loves WLS.  There will be so many things that you will learn about yourself over the next year and beyond because of your courage to take this next step.  Some stuff will be hard, some stuff will be a breeze - but who you emerge as when you lose the weight is amazing and it will be unique to you alone.   I wish you good luck on this journey and invite you to update us as you progress to surgery and beyond.  I didn't see who you were having surgery with - Do you have to do a liquid diet?  If so, when does that start?  I'll pray that you can remain strong for the duration - it's definitely a test, but so rewarding when you can say you did successfully! Take care!

Congratulations and welcome!  You have a wonderful surgeon - he did my husband's RBY 3 1/2 yrs ago.  He is great!  Enjoy the journey.  Hang in with the 2 wk liquid diet.  You CAN do it! And the results will be well worth it!  Congratulations, again! Hugs, Laura
