OT - Back from Phoenix
After a slight (5 hour mechanical) delay, I am back home - FINALLY. It's been a long five days on the road, but worth it to be in PHX during the Super Bowl. I actually ate pretty well, despite some of the all-you-can-eat (and drink) parties. The dogs did wonderfully at the new PetSmart Hotel in EP. I had a lot of fun exploring Phoenix - Old Town, some shopping, downtown. I went to the Heard Museum (native American art, history and culture), the Phoenix Science Museum and the Phoenix Historical Museum.
I spent the game with other media wives in a private suite with catered food and an open bar. Very fun! I got to meet some women I didn't know and hang with some I did.
The one bad thing, and I hope I can get some good thoughts - one of Don's media friends ended up in the hospital on Saturday night and had to have a quintuple bypass. Len is a wonderful husband and father. This was very unexpected, especially on the road. His wife is with him, but he is not expected to go home for another 2 weeks. It'**** the "old" media hard, so if you have a moment, please include Len in your thoughts. One of his daughters lived through Hurricane Katrina, and he is a great reporter for ESPN.
Off to try and get my body ready for Minnesota winter versus Arizona weather....

Welcome back!!! I so envy you being in warm weather!!!
Prayers to your friend and his family. But he is healing and is in better shape in the long run for it. Unexpected, but there will be a silver lining in this dark cloud. Like Tracy's signature used to say, "If God brings you to it, He'll bring your through it".

Welcome back Shannin! Sorry you had to come back to our weather, but glad to have you back with us - remember it may be warm in AZ, but our hearts are warmer in MN.
I'll definitely pray for your friend and and his family - how scary - I've never even heard of a quintuple bypass - yikes! At least he was able to make it to the hospital to have the surgery! Keep us updated on his status!
Go find a sweatshirt and bundle up - we got another cold snap coming up within the week!
Take care!
This is not intended to be as cold as it sounds, but ... this Len guy, I bet he was pretty pissed that it happened BEFORE the game, eh? Scary thing, good thing he was taken care of quickly! Not exactly the kind of reason people want to extend their "vacation", but at least his wife is there with him.
Glad you're home, hope you're warm, and sending prayers up for Len.
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Welcome back! Glad you are home and safe! Sounds like you have fun!
