Really disappointed.. Oprah.. mail!!!!!

Oprah makes my blood boil on her view of wls  I have never been so dissapointed after seeing the teens and wls show. I tried to leave a message on her message boards about the show but they were temporarliy unavailable. I now she does alot of good for people but to be so closed minded to wls as she is make me mad. How are we to judge others shame on Oprah. If only we could all be so wealthy that we could afford to hire the best of the best.

I think Oprah has done many wonderful things for many very deserving people.  However, that generosity has also allowed her to self-promote her own industry increasing the size of her empire!  I for one have never been an Oprah fan, like someone else said I believe she is a fake - she does good for others so she can benefit and become richer - that's self-serving if you ask me! And I agree with Darla - don't mess with our MJ! If I were  you MJ, I would put that little flyer in an envelope and mail it back to Miss Oprah and demand that you be taken off her mailing list.  A nice little letter accompanying it with your thoughts would be effective as well. Love ya doll!

Yea, sure! ME write a letter in my dreams. Plus the staff would throw it out. Then again it would be a MAJOR self esteem issue!!! I will strongly think about it.

Cindy, honey, we love you, we love your sisters, and I really can't imagine my feelings about Oprah migrating over to my feelings for you or anyone else here.  We each have our reasons for wanting this surgery, I don't think ANYONE takes this decision lightly, and we ALL want everyone here to be successful with their weight loss, HOWEVER they achieve it!! My issue with Oprah is that SO MANY PEOPLE take her for some kind of modern-day Messiah.  Everything she touches or puts her stamp of approval on turns to solid gold.  And SHE KNOWS IT.  So shouldn't she take responsibility for giving balanced views on things that can affect people's lives so profoundly?  It's like professional athletes.  They KNOW kids idolize them, so they really ought to keep themselves clean.   'cuz the minute they're "caught" doing drugs or alcohol or worse, those kids are going to think it's COOL to do those things, too!   I guess I've always rebelled against that kind of conformity.  I just hate the power trip it gives those who are the followed ones.  Even in my Girl Scout troop, when one of the girls would start to act like a ring-leader that the others should follow, I made sure to pop that balloon and force them to re-enter the ranks of MEMBER.  Responsible Leadership is a good thing.  Idol worship is not. Okay, off my soapbox now.

I too used to enjoy watching Oprah...she does some good things but lately her attitude sucks!!! I also agree that she is jealous of WLS. She has said so much bad about it that now she couldn't have it without looking like a fool. I am truely disappointed in her negativity towards WLS. Her snide remarks have gone on long enough.  I don'****ch her show anymore and don't think I ever will again.  She has had too much power for too long!!  Her yoyo dieting is rediculous....if she thinks she has all the answers then why is she gaining all that weight over and over again. This is one area she is not in control of.  The difference is we have chosen to do something serious about it. She doesn't want to give up eating and that is the bottom line!! Hugs, connie
