Really disappointed.. Oprah.. mail!!!!!

 Wow - I'm glad I've never been an Opraholic.  I think that after too much fame and money, people start to over-estimate their own power and worth.  We choose WLS because it sounds right for US.  I'm pretty sure Oprah didn't "weigh in" on any of your decisions, either.  Hell, if I had HER resources, I may have gotten my weight off without WLS!  I mean, if had a personal chef for life, a house big enough to hold all the exercise equipment I can afford, and a private drill seargant, who knows???   I did what I had to do.  She can do whatever the hell she wants.  But it's irresponsible to present such a biased view of this life-saving surgery. Go WLS! You are tooooo cute. . . .but. . . come on. . . Doesn't Oprah gets to have her "blind spots" too? Haven't we all had them?  Let's just hope that she has the opportunities to become educated/enlightened about WLS. She has shed much light on things that matter. . . She is simply behind on this! I guess what I'm really asking is for mercy on me. I have a BMI of 30 (minimum requirement for lapband in Mexico) and I want this tool more than I've ever wanted anything. My two sisters are having WLS and most of my relatives would (maybe) benefit from it, and I want it. I have scheduled my lapband surgery for March 25 and I AM SOOOOO grateful for this opportunity to be proactive. Yet, I fear criticism and I feel vulnerable to it. Anyway. . . If you're "mad" at Oprah. . . Will you be "mad" at me? Feeling Weird, Cindy B.

Im confused.... as far as the OPRAH thing... yes she can have her blind spots and we can choose to have our opinion about them.

As far as you wanting a band with only a BMI of 30, is your choice and we respect that.  No one here woud ever not include you.... bash you... or disrespect you because of your choice.

I think if you spent anytime on this board you would know we wouldnt be "mad" at you.. we would welcome and embrace you.

I don't quite get why you think the two are connected.  She's anti-WLS and you want to have lapband - the two don't connect (at least in my mind).  And hey, if you're doing something that will make you healthier and rid you of co-morbidities or even just look and feel better - than more power to you!  Of course we won't be mad at you - you are a grown woman who can make decisions for yourself - if anything if you were posting here that you were going to do something that wasn't so wise, we would just try to get you to see a different side - it's not ours to judge what's right or wrong for you! Yes, Oprah can have blind spots but when she presents her blind spots to the public, most of the public who watches her think she's an expert on everything. I don't  care whether she likes/dislikes wls. She did not present facts because she had no bariatric specialists on a show about teen obesity.  Also.....there are docs here in the US who will do a lap band on "lower bmi's" not only in Mexico. It just costs less in Mexico.
