My thoughts

I have been doing alot of thinking lately.  About my "inner" self.  Like, why wasn't I happy with who I was before WLS.  Why did I think Losing all the weight would make me happy?  All this time I have been unhappy with who I was and what I was/am doing with my life.  Thinking "if only" I could change this or that.  When I decided to have WLS, that is when I cared enough about myself to become healthy.  That began the process to love myself.  As the weight started to come off I began to see a person I have tried to hide and didn't like.  It was a vulnerable, hurt little girl that pretended life was good.  A little girl who loved people, animals and enjoyed the simple things in life.  A little girl who was hurt by a stranger.  A little girl who started to hide, pretend to be tough.  A little girl who was afraid to show weakness.  As I have been working with a therapist, I see how my thoughts then were not correct.  I see that weakness is not failure, wrong but rather human.  I see that the little girl who needed to reach out for help but didn't, should have.  I see that it is ok to have fears, be vulnerable, to be weak and to ask for help.  Why do we think that we have to be perfect?  Why can't we see ourselves the way God does?  Why do we put conditions on everything?  It's ok to try, not get it right and learn from it.  It's ok to cry even if someone will see you.  It's ok to be mad as long as you don't hurt someone else.  It's ok to have a bad day.  It's ok to be quiet.  This has taken me nearly 14 months to figure out.  It's so scary to "unvail" myself but soooo freeing.  It's awesome to be me and not pretend anymore.  It's unbelieveable to not try to please people and just be me ~take it or leave it~!!  It's amazing to be able to say "this is me, nothing less, nothing more". And better yet to say "This is me, I like me, I love me, I'm me and if you don't like me THAT's OK!!!"   I say all this in hopes that someone else will get it sooner then I did.  In hopes that someone will look in the mirror and say "I'm A-OK!" In hopes that someone will just let go and be them and learn to love them one day sooner.  Embrace your uniqueness, your beauty, what God has bless you with, and realize that God doesn't make junk!  And that God loves us and wants what is best for us.  He didn't want that little girl hurt but has used that hurt to help others.  I love you all and may you love you too!

Sandie~ thanks for the inpiring message. You sent it at a perfect time for me! Today has been a down in the dumps day for me. I have been feelign frusterated with everything, but mostly I just feel like I am not going anywhere with the surgery. I know banding is different then RNY..but I see all you guys dropping weight and I am not. Its just coming off very slowly. I have been very discouraged today. So thanks for the pep talk!!

Hey Hon!  Remember that you are you!  Don't compare.  Also, would you have lost what you have if you hadn't been banded?  YOU are doing great!  Keep it up!  The sun will shine soon even on the rainiest of days.  Love to you!

What a beautiful and inspiring message.  I know you touched my heart and I teared up while reading it.  I am working towards where you are.  I hope to be able to say one day that I am a beautiful person and to not have the need to people please everyone.  I'm sure you have touched more than will reply.  I really do feel that we all have hurts that we've been hiding and stuffing down with food, we are all so similar and it just is comforting to know I'm not the only one and that I'm not crazy (well, maybe a little, but in a good way ). I pray that God continues to bless you and I am thankful that you continually bless us with your love and wisdom... Debi
