Chew, Chew, Chew Reminder
Here I am...almost 9 months out from surgery. And I did a bone head thing.
Saturday I went out to lunch with family and did some mindless eating. It's not what I ate or how much I ate that was mindless...it was HOW I ate it. I ate a small, very tender bite of steak. And as I was talking and laughing with the group, I obviously did not chew it well enough. It was basically 16 hours of hellish pain. I couldn't even touch my stomach it hurt so bad. I thought I was going to have to go the ER but I avoided that little trip. My poor little pouch made so many bad noises at me as it tried to rid itself of that meat....
I don't think we can hear this mantra enough....CHEW CHEW CHEW...and then maybe chew some more. I guess it all comes down to "Don't forget the basics". Be mindfull as you eat.

Oh AMY!!! My pouch aches for you! So sorry that you had to go through this reminder! 16 hours of constant and severe pain must have been a nightmare - especially with 2 little ones running around. I can't imagine how you got through it.
I'm so glad that you're feeling better though, but I'm sure your still feeling the effects as it does a number on your whole body. Thanks for sharing your experience though - you're right we can never hear it enough and I don't really think that it matters how far out you are - we all need to be reminded on a regular basis that we have to be kind to our pouch or it will make us pay!
Take care sweets!
That sounds 100% MISERABLE!!! I don't know if you've brought anything up before, but for me - if I know I'm stuck 'cuz I didn't chew something enough, or if something was just too dry going down, I've learned to recognize the signs - pain, and slime. So I head for the throne and rid myself of the offending bits. TMI for some, I'm sure, but it sure does bring relief! Faster than anything else. It's rare now, but I have NO PROBLEM getting rid of something that's hurting me! My kids can even tell when it's going to happen - apparently I stop eating, sit very still (I'm paying attention to my pouch & lose focus on anything else), try to swallow a few times, and if it's not gonna resolve itself fairly easily, I take care of it. The pain isn't worth it!
I hope you're okay now, Amy - that soreness can hang on for a spell!
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
I've had to bring it back up too... seems to be worse when we're out to eat... I get so wrapped up in chatting and the atmosphere that I don't focus so well on what i'm supposed to be doing..
So glad your feeling better now.
Hugs to you!

Amy,
I am so sorry this happened. When it has happened to me, I have found alot of success with drinking a drink of something carbonated, like coke or whatever. then make sure you are close to the toilet because that will usually make you throw up RIGHT AWAY!!! If someone alreday posted this fro you, sorry to repeat, I did not have a chance to read everyones responses!!!
