Hi all... 8 nights to go then the big knife... I can hardly wait - however, I am really struggling with the liquid diet.  In fact, i have cheated the last  4 days (stresses of work)  and seem to be running out of control.. HELP... will the doctor cancel my surgery.. I hope not.. I will stay on track the next 8 days... also does anyone swim here for exercise?? i am wondering how long after the surgery will i have to wait to return to swimming???

Hang in there with the liquids. Make sure if you do cheat you don't destroy what you have accomplished so far. That is don't say well since I cheated today I will have a pizza anyway. That would be a problem. When and where you can swim again will depend upon your own situation. Ask your doc and he/she will tell you.   Good luck, you can do it!

You really should call you doctors office and tell that you cheated how much and when. The doctor can tell when doing surgery and may get in there and have problems. Hang in there it will be over soon.

From what I understand the purpose of the liquid diet is to shrink your liver and other organs so that the resection of your innards goes more smoothly.  I would call the Duluth Clinic and chat with them what is expected. The LD is for your benefit.  Hope all goes well for you.  Have you found someone from Marathon to go with you?  ((HUG)) **SUE**

You know that there are good and tasty liquids that can be consumed, right?  Barb K used to strain the noodles out of the chicken soup, and I'm sure there are many more tricks to getting the clear broths in on a LD. (Can't think of anything special from when I was on the LD--too long ago--gonna be 3 years in May) I was hoping to be able to offer some assistance for your trip, but with my school placement being questionable I regret I'm unable to help.  I'll be thinking of you and keeping you in prayer~ ((HUG)) **SUE**

Taz - couple of questions... I maybe missed a post, but how did all the bleeding issues resolve? Were you able to get some answers on that? LD - pretty common that we all tell you to call and be honest with your surgeon now about how much and what because he/she may cancel your surgery. You mentally may not be ready. Or, he/she may say "hey, no problem, just try to get back on track". It's so individual, but the best policy is honesty in this case. Also, I know of a Mpls. surgeon that will close a patient back up if he opens and finds food in there. How devastating would that be? But, he does it for the patients own health. At that point, he knows the patient is NOT ready for this surgery. Just best to call your surgeon and be honest, but please make sure that you have a support system in place to help you deal with the stress as you go on through the process. It will really help you in the long run. Not saying all this to be harsh, just honest from what I have learned from others. Remember what you want most - bariatric surgery - now GO GET IT!

Thank you for the motivational talk... I need that right now.  i still have one more week to go so I am going to be sticking to the liquid diet all the time.. i am focused now..   I have been diagnosed with Crohn's and COlitis... not sure why the both but that is what was causing all the bleeding and the runs for over 6 months.. it is under control now and hopefully will never occur again.  my doctor here is following up with me regarding this. thanks for your support... Hang in there Taz! The LD is REALLY tough; but you HAVE to do it!!! It's for YOUR benefit. If you are planning on having a lap, you may just wake up to find out they did it open. Why? Because your liver didn't shrink enough for them to be able to do it laproscopicly. Also, yes, they can cancel your surgery. I don't mean to scare you; but I think it's what you need to hear. You CAN do it Taz! It IS possible.  Lori
