Hmmmm....do I want to have fun only one day or the whole weekend?? What the heck---put me down for the whole enchilada!   Play now and pay later! (It'll be on my M/C!) But take note---I might be showing up later on Friday, as I don't have any information on who or what the new placement will be, and it is a 4-hour drive from Thunder Bay to Duluth--depending on the road condition) Can't wait!  (((HUG)) **SUE**

I'll be there all weekend with the hubby.  We'll probably want some time by ourselves to celebrate our anniversary, but to do some things with the WLS family each day won't be too much to ask.  And he really should meet some of you guys and see why I keep telling him that I need to spend more time with you all.

We would be going for the whole weekend.  What place are you looking at for the cottages?  How much are the single cottages?  Going to discuss this whole thing again today with my husband!

Hi!  The place I am getting quotes from as far as the cottages is:  Cove Point Lodge I found them on the internet and MAN do they look nice!  They have smaller cottages and I thought I had seen rooms like hotels have.  If they don't have hotel rooms I can also get some nearby hotel quote for the people with spouses that are going.  Just need to know!

Yeah, Sandie, Cove Point Lodge is just amazing with stunning views  of the romantic cove and Lake Superior for  a perfect romantic hideaway! A former BF took me there for a three-night escape over New Year's 2006. It was a neat surprise and we stayed at  the Executive Lodge suite, which was small, though cozy with all windows, fireplace, and right off the bathroom is a large jacuzzi with windows on two sides.  It was a stormy snowy getaway, and the views and walks were just stunning;  only downfall was there's no real living room, just a weird pine couch in front of the fire place. The strong selling point was was definitely just the views. Superior Shores is also north of Duluth, but larger suites with large jacuzzi tubs, two-way fireplaces in alllarge bedroom and living room, as well as balconies, walk-outs, full size kitchens. BUT, For this group's "ALL WEEKEND" getaway, I vote for a cottage/lodge with kitchen,  multiple bedrooms as opposed to the group being spread all over some hotel.   I agree Canal Park lodging would be awesome as we could walk all over, which is conducive to those imbibing, and especially shoppers like myself.  Wheeeeeee, can't wait!  And I don't drive so would need to get in on a car pool up and back. Can't wait!  I LOVE Suluth any season!  Thanks again Sandie for your time and effort in creating this reality for many!  Hugs galore, Patti

Sandy,  Just wondering if you realized that hte Cove Point Lodge is another 50 miles north of Duluth on the shore.   Thought I'd let you know in case people were thinking of doing other things in Duluth during the weekend too...it'd be quite the drive back and forth.   I do know of a hotel right in canal park that has 3 bedroom suites...well they're like a big apt with a kitchen and all as well.   I know a week or so ago there was still some open as my sister called checking on them.   It is within walking distance to a lot of shopping, dining, and night time entertainment as well.   I love the looks of the Cove Point Lodge though....will have to keep that one in mind for our anniversary in May.

You read my mind.  We enjoy Duluth every year in October and Cove Poing looks wonderful.  We have never stayed there because it is so far away from the Canal and all the hustle and bustle in the canal.  There are some pretty nice places in the canal or in Duluth in general.

What the heck! I'm in for the whole weekend! It sounds like fun. But I think we should stay closer to Duluth. I would also like to car pool. I live in Chanhassen. But will be driving north for this thing. So, I could pick someone up.  Lori
