ONE LAST TUBING PROMO!!!
Okay, people - NEXT SATURDAY is the big TUBING BONANZA!!!
Everyone is welcome, including families!!! The facility at Elm Creek is TOP NOTCH, and even if you're a clod like me who can't ski or skate, you CAN have a BLAST going tubing!!! It takes no particular skill, talent or grace.... but it does take a certain amount of guts! Nerve, daring, bravado, call it what you want. That first time, at the top of the hill looking down, can cause butterflies - but isn't that what we all are, anyway? Trust me, it's a blast!!!!! (And it is 110% true, I've laughed so hard before while tubing, I pee'd in my pants... and I'm PROUD OF IT!!!)
So here are the details - Wayne, the Supervisor at Elm Creek, is giving us all the $10 rate (normally $12). It will be a much more efficient process if you bring $10 cash for each person, and a signed copy of the waiver - I will collect everything from all of you and get all the passes in one shot. Please visit the link below for more information, and to download a copy of the waiver form (scroll down to the section about tubing). If you fill it out before we get there, things can go just that much smoother! If you can't print it out, don't worry - they have 'em there.
If you want to have a light dinner at the chalet, plan to come around 5:30pm - I figured we could tube from roughly 6:30-8:30pm (the place closes at 9). They have really good salads, some burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, etc... AND (drum roll, please) A COFFEE BAR!!!
General directions to Elm Creek (which is technically in Maple Grove)from 169 and 694; take 169 north to Co. Rd. 81. Take 81 west past Osseo, and watch for the signs (probably about 2-2.5 miles?) You'll turn right and follow the circle to the entrance. Drive in 'til you see the Chalet. If you can park by the Chalet, do so. If the lot is full, follow the entrance road down to the beach (overflow) parking lot. It's quite a ways down, but there are shuttles running steadily to deliver you right to the Chalet.
YIPPEE FLIPPIN' SKIPPY, is THIS gonna be FUUUUUN!!!!!

February 2nd is correct.
And for any of you who do not have snow pants, DON'T WORRY - BE HAPPY! I never fit my butt into a pair of snowpants before this year, and it didn't stop me! Just wear a pair of long-johns or sweat pants under one of your roomier pair of jeans, and you're good to go! Even tho it might not seem like you're actually getting a lot of exercise (riding down the hill on a tube, riding UP the hill on a "magic carpet"), you WILL get warm after just a few runs down! So LAYERS are wise, and not TOO many of 'em - you don't want to get sweaty!
A few more tips for happy tubers:
- DO NOT let your butt slide through the tube all the way to the ground. You want a bit of an air cushion between your tailbone and the snow, or hitting a bump could SMART!
- DO NOT lock your legs out straight in front of you! You will more than likely do some ping-ponging down the hill, and if your feet happen to run into the berm between the lanes, you don't want to jam your knees! Keep 'em flexed, more like a shock absorber.
- DO NOT lay your head back while going down. When you bounce off the berm, you get WAY better rebound action if the tube hits the berm. When your head hits it first? Not so much...
- DO NOT let these warnings scare you! Just take them as good advice, and you'll have a GRAND TIME!!!
