Pre Insurance Approval Surgeon Consult & Teaching Appt made....

My nurse knows how much I want to have the surgery done ASAP, mainly because I want to get healthier, but also because I want to be healed up and ready to train and show my horses this spring.  I know kindof silly to want to rush my surgery.

She calls me today and said she received my psyc evaluation and even though I still have 2 HP calls left, she feels its time for me to meet with my surgeon and move forward.

So I call the surgeon (Dr. Baker's office) and they cant get me in until February 18...so I take it...a little disappointed, because I really was hoping for something sooner.  I then call my nurse back and let her know that my appointment is Febraury 18 and ask to have my teaching appointment set for the same date.  She also was surprised that Dr. Bakers office couldnt get me in until the 18th...so she says "hold on".  She comes back and says I can get you in with Dr. Johnson on February 6th, if you dont mind switching surgeons.  I tell her I have never met with Dr. Baker and as long as Dr. Johnson is highly recomended then I dont have a problem with it. Yea I am on my way to getting a surgery date!! Can anyone tell me what to expect during my surgeon consult appointment, is it basically a time to ask questions and meet your surgeon type appointment or ?? Jodi~ Congrats!  I love Dr Johnson (as he's my surgeon)...lol They just look you over tell you want to expect and Dr. Johnson really states that this is a tool and it's your tool and your program.  That the surgery is just one of the first steps to your life long health success.  He's very supportive. Funny, your appointment is the day of my surgery!!!  How cool is that? Take care, Selena

Wow...what a day!!! Dr. Baker's office just called.  She said "Darla was just here and grabbed your file and said you were switching surgeons because you needed to get in sooner than the 18th.  Well today is your lucky day, Dr. Baker just checked in from his vacation and we talked about your situation and he will fit you in on his first day back which is January 29." So now I am back to Dr. Baker and am able to be seen on January 29th. This is almost kind of weird and freaky how fast things are moving!! ~Jodi~

CONGRATS!!!  Your meeting with your surgeon is just him going over the whole procedure and making sure you fully understand and well informed.  He reviews youe need for the surgery and gives his recommendation to go ahead!  Don't sweat it and yes ask questions!!  Again, CONGRATS!!  WooooHoooooo, you're on your way!
