Doctors

A lady here at work is looking for a “great” surgeon (not just good).  I’m partial to St Paul Surgeons; Dr Kelly and Dr Rupp but she would like information about other surgeons in the area.  Her insurance will let her go about any place here in the cities and I know there a lot of great doctors out there but if you can tell me a little about why you chose your surgeon would be great and I will let her know.    TIA

 

Tammy, I truly think she should go to the local info sessions for all the groups and decide this for herself. She is the one who has to feel comfortable with her decision. She should also learn about the different types of bariatric surgery so she is well informed. MN has GREAT bariatric surgeons! We could honestly name them all IMO.

I chose Dr. Raymond Drew at Minneapolis Bariatric.  His practice and specialty is bariatric surgery - in fact he was in on one of the first RNY procedures done.  I met with him yesterday and he is one of the most caring and compassionate doctors I have ever met.  He took the time to answer all my questions - wasn't in a rush - made sure everything was taken care of and explained.  He has a ton of experience and really is thorough in his explanations. 

They have a good information session too.

I agree with AMY!!!

I went to Buchwald because he is the most experienced bariatric/metabolic surgeon in Minnesota.  He is well known and published world wide.  Another important thing is that he does every kind of WLS.  One stop shopping!  And you don't have to worry you are being sold on surgery X because that's what the doc does.  Not because it's the best choice for you!
