Girl Scout Cookies

So it's Girl Scout cookie time.  Usually, I LOVE this time of year.  But this year is different.  This is the first year that I have to deal with it after my WLS.  How has other's dealt with this time?  Do you look the little girls in the face and tell them no you are not buying their cookies?  Do you buy them and give them away?  Please let me know.  Cookies seem to turn up all over the place, work, restaurants, and parties.    What is a girl to do?  This is the first year my daughter is NOT selling them, thank goodness for small miracles.  But is there a certain cookie that is better if I do slip up and eat a whole sleeve.  The devil is working overtime yall.

I do know how you feel. They did come out with a sugar free chocolate chip cookie but I don't know if those are okay.

I know that there will be someone that can answer this better but just wanted to warn you that some people dump off of sugar alcohols just as bad if not worse than actual sugar.

The way someone explained it to me it that for every 2 sugar alcohols, it is basically equal to eating 1 g. of sugar. I personally CAN NOT tolerate the sugar alcohols. I can tolerate a decent amount of sugar but even a fewsugar alcohols and I am regretting it.

Just keep to your mantra! NOthing tastes as good as thin feels!!!! My family loves the GS cookies so I'll be buying them for them. This too will pass hon. and if all else fails get a box of the SF ones and have one once in awhile if you feel like it. Just make sure you compensate for the calories and work out that day.

So what you're saying is....I should not eat a whole sleeve of cookies?  Just kidding.  I know I have to just try to put them out of my head.  Since I don't eat chocolate, I can get chocolate cookies for my daughter.  I was strong through the holidays and made it without much damage; I can get through this too. Thanks!

If you want to help out a girl's troop but don't want to buy cookies, you could always give the troop a cash donation.

My daughter has sold GS cookies for 9 years, and this year is no different - only I won't be eating them!  I don't think any girl would be offended for you to say nicely "thank you, but I'm working on losing weight".  We've heard that many times over the years, and it has never caused any hard feelings. If you want to support a girl that approaches you, a friend, relative or neighbor, you can always offer to donate a box to the "Troop to Troop" program - you pay for cookies ($3.50 per box), and the council then ships all the cases of cookies paid for by that program to our military folks all over the world!  I don't have the stats on just how many boxes went last year, but I know it was many thousands of cases!  BIG TREAT for our soldiers!!  (you don't get to pick what KIND of cookies go, they usually send those without chocolate, for obvious reasons...) I had a few people ask me to bring an order form to Hopkins last Saturday, and I forgot it.  So for those of you who might want to order cookies for your families to enjoy, just pm me!  I'd be happy to set you up on my daughter's behalf!  She and another girl are working on their Silver award this year, a project I'm CRAZY PROUD of!!!  (And what better excuse to get together than to deliver them in the end of February???!!!) Here's the link to the different cookies available... http://www.girlscoutsmpls.org/cookies_varieties.html (sorry if this comes across as a shameless plug, but I really did have a few people ask me to bring my order form - you know who you are!!!  )
