Update on my CT scan

Hi everyone I had mentioned last week that I was going to have a CT scan done on Friday to see why there is blood in my urine. Well......they found that I do have a kidney stone and a kidney cyst. They are going to do a cystoscope on Thursday and check right in my bladder, with the camera and see more of what's going on in there. I'm going to discuss my WLS with him, basically to see if these issues are caused because of the WLS. I've talked with a few WLS friends and they know quite a few people who have developed kidney stones after WLS. Another friend of mine just told me this morning, that sometimes too much iron can cause kidney stones. So, I'll ask him about that too. The stones are made of calcium, and I've been taking mega doses of calcium since I have osteopenia. I'm going to ask him too, if the extra calcium is causing the stones. It's a viscious cycle. I need the extra iron and calcium to help with my iron levels and the osteopenia, but I don't want to keep taking these if they're causing kidney issues. It's kind of like.....do you want osteoperosis or kidney disease??????? Neither one is a good choice. I'll keep you posted after my scope on Thursday and as far as what he says about how this is related to WLS. Have a great day!!! Peggy

Hi Peggy-- You have my prayers that the scope will give the docs a better idea of how to treat you. I was in Emergency last July with a kidney stone. Boy, I thought labour was painful!    I was given good drugs and IV for hydration and all has been good since.  I did take the rap for insufficient liquid intake.   MUST GET ENOUGH FLUIDS IN,  I tell self! You take care! ((HUG)) **SUE**

Hi Peggy!  Here's hoping that they find away so you won't get kidney stones AND can keep preventing osteoperosis!  Keep us posted!  HUGS!
