(((((Laura)))) My prayers will go out for you and your family. I agree with what everybody else has said.  Don't beat yourself up.  It will get you nowhere. Today is a new day--start fresh.  Being aware that you're eating for comfort is a good thing.  Maybe finding  something constructive to do with your hands might help--like knitting or something you like to do that can take your mind off the situation and keep those hands off food.  Keep stopping by this board.  The folks here are an awesome support! I so understand to some degree how it feels. My brother died in August from cancer the stress from watching him fade away when I now think of it did through me into an eating binge of months and months. One of the biggest things you have going for you Laura is the support from this site. Congratulations Laura for being so awhere of the why you are eating. I will be glad when I am that far out. My prayers are with you. Janie

Hi Laura, I'm so sorry to hear about your BIL. I took care of my mom a couple of years ago when she was dying from cancer, and like you I ate my way through it. My heart just goes out to you and your family. I will keep you all in my thoughts. I have to agree with the others, stop beating yourself up over yesterdays food binge... it's overwith now and today is a new day. Now that you know for certain you have that trigger you can be aware of it. Mabee next time you feel it coming on and catch yourself with cheetos in hand, drop it and head to the gym, it will help to take out your frustrations on the machines.  Hugs to you Lisa

WOW Laura,   You definitely have a lot going on!  So sorry to hear about your BIL - that's way too young for someone to suffer from such a miserable disease.  Don't spiral all that news by beating yourself up about eating some junk food. Like you said - you would have eaten WAY more prior to surgery.  I know all too well about falling into the old habits - but you are very aware of what you're doing and you're here looking for support instead of hiding somewhere eating - those are all positive signs that you are taking your fears seriously - that in itself will take you miles and miles. Take care of YOU!!!  Remember you're no good to others unless you're good to yourself first! With that said - get thy butt to support group tomorrow night so we can all give you a big ol' hug and help you through this stressful time. Love you girlie, Tracy P.S., Call me if you need to - I'm happy to listen!

Laura- I'm so sorry to hear of your BIL. That's tough. I think it's good that you aknowledge that you are stress eating. That's the first step. The mind is the hardest thing to train. The surgeon can give us a tool; but we have to re-train our way of thinking, and stop old bad habits. We have all been there. Take a deep breath... you'll be okay. Now, step two is to find a way to focus your energy (stress energy) on something else. When you start to reach for those cheetos, what can you do instead? Maybe you could clean, knit, or run around the block naked (LOL... please don't). Good luck to you gf. I know you can do this. YOu are doing so great already.  Hugs, Lori

I just have one other suggestion to add...  Obviously, the best thing would be to NOT eat when you're stressed.  But if you get rid of the evil stuff and replace it with protein choices, at least you will be giving your body something it needs.  Jerky, cheeses, and some of the protein cereals give you a good crunch if you need that!  Forgive yourself for being human, just take control of things you CAN control! And I agree with Tracy, GET THEE TO PNC tomorrow night!!!  It's been way too long!
