OH MAN!!!  This is what I get for not eating right.  As most of you know, my eating habits over the last couple of months have really have not been "WLS" friendly, hence my plateau.  Tonight I went grocery shopping and pork chops were super cheap and I thought - I'll just get my george forman grill out and have one from supper - for once, I'll eat a protein rich meal.  While making the pork chops I decided to make the cheddar biscuits from Tastefully Simple that I had.  However the pork chops got done before the biscuits so I started eating.  BIG MISTAKE!!! First, I stood at the kitchen counter, which means I just kept cutting up pieces and eating while I stood there. Second, I just kept shoveling the pork shop into my mouth without consciousness of how much I was eating. Third, I haven't eaten just meat at a meal in forever.  Within 10 minutes I was full and couldn't even touch the biscuits.  I'm not wrything in pain of an overstuffed pouch!   I've just been reminded why they tell us to eat protein first.  When eating other foods, whether it be pasta or a sandwich, I could eat quite a bit.  Eating just pork chop made my pouch fill up SUPER fast but I kept eating because with other foods I could shove more in.  NOT WITH PROTEIN!!!  I over stuffed it and now feel miserable. I guess it just goes to show that your pouch probably doesn't really stretch that much (I'm almost 10 months out) and that protein really will fill you up much faster - hence fewer calories consumed.  I need to use this as a constant reminder that if I eat my protein first I will continue to lose weight as opposed to continuing to do what I was doing that wasn't working. Anyway, just thought I would share that the basics do work - please learn from my mistake and don't make yourself suffer like I have tonight!!! love ya'll!

Hi Tracy....good to see you...I agree protein first...it really works to fill up that pouch. I measure just about everything...especially meat......that way I can't overeat. You stay full longer with more protein too.  It sure is working for me! Sorry your pouchie is ouchie tonight!!  Hugs, connie d

Oh man-I have SO done that!!   I have found that eating fast will only bring me grief and pain-and getting too hungry between eating times will get me eating too fast!!  Hopefully you are feeling better now.  At least you DID eat the protein first-good step, and boy did your pouch remind you of how things should be!  Keep moving forward-you will become better at this!!   loveya back,  lynn

This was on the OH message board:

Crockpot Pork Chops

6 boneless pork chops

1 very large onion

5-6 potatoes

2 cans of pork gravy (use fat free chicken gravy.)

1 can of cream of mushroom soup Mix the 3 cans of gravy/soup together, pour some in the bottom of the crock pot, then put 3 pork chops, 1/2 the onion, and 1/2 potatoes. Then put the rest of the chops, onion, potatoes and gravy. Cook on low until the pork falls apart.

I've had a couple of less than intelligent moments myself this weekend, so I know how you're feeling.   My hubby HAD to go buy me a marble buttercream cake for my birthday.  (Yeah, right, it was for HIM!)  I had a small slice, only as wide as my index finger.  I've done that before without any problem.  But last night?  OMG... the pain in my belly was excruciating!!!  I think I suffered the pain of my dumb choice for 3 hours!!!   So today, rather than go out to eat, I decided I needed a day IN.  A day where I didn't have to get dressed or do my hair or even leave the house.  HEAVENLY!  Until I absent-mindedly ate a couple of strawberry twizzlers that Trav had at a movie yesterday.  Good grief, sugar = PAIN!!!  I haven't tested it much, but when I have, it didn't bother me.  So it's TRUE that what doesn't bother you one day CAN and WILL the NEXT!!! Aarghhhh..... I Can't Stomach It

Man -- I hope you feel better too!!!  Dumping sucks -- but I know you still think WLS is FREAKING FANTASTIC!!!!   And girlfriend you looked sooooo good yesterday.  I was looking at pictures of the gals at Stillwater and I hardly recognized you -- you have done sooooo well.  And the hubby said tonight that when he spoke to you, you were at around 100.  When I told him your chart now says 121 he was VERY impressed.   XXOO
