Lisa Joy,

First what a wonderful name to have JOY! It is perfect for you to embrass you have that name for a reason.

I was just like you 5 months ago. Stopping the diet pop for me it was the real thing with all the sugar.

I tried to remove just one thing at a time slowly. And after I got my date. Yes, I did chose some very important foods to eat and say good -bye, too.

The Holidays were a bit different but the good habits I had started really help sooooo much.

When I got to the LD on Dec. 25th ... really thinking about doing was scary ... and then doing it was so much better than I ever thought.

Here is a tip I got from Jennifer when she started the LD a few weeks before me.

She has a little one at home that she has to feed ever 2-3 hours. So , that is what she did for herself.

It was a great help to me also, ever 2-3 hours I have a protein drink ... boost....ensure... sk milk with CIB and being able to have 5-6 a day was the best thing about staying satified.

MN OH is the best place to get support, inspiration, and always wonderful tips on choices to make on the journey to a new healthy life.

Take Care and I am sending you strenght and peace.

I am just 2 weeks pass surgery and it is going better than I ever imagined,

MJ

Thank you for being brave enough to ask what I have been thinking and scared to some degree to ask. I am not quite in the middle of this long process so no date or ok's yet. The more I read here the more I can see how much helpful everyone is and that alone helps  the what if's. Janie

I think I ate what I wanted to eat before surgery since I knew my life would be changing drastically. My husband said that I seemed to be pigging out more at the time since I knew I would be having surgery. Maybe it was my "fatty funeral"-but it was many funerals!  LOL This behavior is completely normal. I have heard a surgeon say that if you feel you need to pig out before surgery, you shouldn't be getting the surgery, but in my opinion, it the FOOD that got us in trouble in the first place, so yeah, we are going to miss it! Every once in a while, I wish I had my regular stomach back so I could eat more of the flavors I really like. Remember, your stomach will tell you what you can eat and cannot eat after surgery. It may vary from day to day even. One day you may be able to eat a certain food, and then a month later, your body might reject it. Lucky for me, I have never thrown up food after surgery. I have dumped, and I have learned. There are things that I choose NOT to eat or drink as well. Your body will tell you all the secrets when it's ready. So, if you are hungry for it now, eat it--that's my take on it. Just make sure that you have any pre-op weight off before surgery that you may have been required to do. ;)

I feel like the last 2 months I have been eating everything with the excuse this could be the last time I have this and enjoy it like I do.  I started the liquid diet today and its rough.  Last night we went out for my last supper and I came home and ate my favorite cookies until midnight.  This morning the first thing I wanted was more cookies then I remembered I couldn't have them and had to throw the rest of them away in the garbage so I wouldn't eat them.   Then I was tempted to take them out since they were still in their package so I cracked a raw egg over them so I wouldn't eat them.   I know I would be really disappointed in myself if I cheated right now especially at day 1.   If I can recommend something that is say goodbye to your favorite foods but maybe try to not eat EVERYTHING up to the day of the liquid diet starts its I think a lot harder to go from having everything you want as as much as you can handle one day and then to jus****er, jello, proten drink, etc the next day.    I'm off to have some Chicken Broth for lunch.

Hi LJ I don't think there is anything further I can add to this. It's normal we all have been there done that. Just know that your OH sisters and brothers are here to talk you through it when you need it. Hugs  Lisa ~
