Yoga?

Just wondered if anybody does yoga as part of thier regular exercise regime? Right now I'm doing cardio 6 days a week and circuit training 3 days a week, but I'm really interested in the yoga class my daughters dance studio is now offering. I'm thinking about adding it to the mix. Anybody ever do it? Like it? didn't like it? Found yourself turned into a pretzel never to be the same again??? LOL!  Hugs L.

Lisa~ I've never been to a class but I love the videos I do at home.  I would love to join a class but I know I can't bend and twist like most of them but I feel good afterward.  I think my body enjoys the relaxing pulls on the muscles and I "feel" like I'm "giving" something back to my body if I've had a rough stressful day... Hope that helps?

Thanks Selena I thought about picking up one of the DVD's for beginners, but I know myself enough to know that if I don't have to pay for it or leave the house I ain't gonna do it! I may just pick up a DVD just to see if I like it first. Thanks!

How about renting one?  No commitment there!!!  I have a yoga dvd that is ok, I am not as flexible as those people, but I try hard!  It feels good to stretch out...so that is a plus!  Anyway, just a thought! Jeanne

I don't do yoga yet but I am seriously thinking about it!! Maybe in the spring..I just workout at the gym 6 days a week...that is all I have time for right now. I sure can move around a lot easier then I used to and I don't get so tired out anymore. Hugs, connie d

I take yoga classes at the Y and I absolutely love it. It is a good workout and it increases flexibility. On top of those benefits, it is a stress reducer and it helps me to relax. One thing though, it can be a bit of a challenge at first getting the positions down but your instructor should help with that. I hope you try it I think you will like it! Good Luck!

Lisa, Months before I decided to pursue the wls, I rented a video called "Yoga for the rest of us" by Peggy Cappy.  I loved it so much, I bought one.  It's for people with bad backs, so all of the poses are modified.  I was so heavy I couldn't do the poses before.  Now I think I would like to try them in a real class, but I recommend this video.  I felt as though I could keep up with the people on the video. I love doing it...it's so relaxing and a great stress releaser.  My therapist highly recommends yoga. Enjoy, Debi
