I just had the same dilemma - i had to renew my license in december - knowing full well that I wouldn't be that weight (or at least the weight I put down) for long.
So I put down 250 even though I am almost 300 - but when I get down after surgery - i am going to misplace my license and get a new one made.

When you call and ask at the Eagan place on Cliff Road, they say it is at your discretion -- if you want a new picture, they'll give you a new picture. And you pay the renewal fee. So I'd guess if you have a weight loss and want a new weight on your license and a new picture, they'll do it there. But -- what if, GOD FORBID, you had an accident and they had to do medical stuff on you. Number one, you are a diabetic, and number 2 you've had RNY surgery. Based on the weight on your license, what bad could happen (cause you know it won't be good!!!)? Would they give you too much of something because your weight is high, or too little of something because your weight is too low. I'd hate to think they could have given you a little more of a heart stimulating medication, or insulin, but because you put too little weight down, it wasn't enough. Or, you don't have the correct weight and they give you too much of something and it kills you.
If I were you, I'd leave that space blank on the application and ask at the window how much the weight can vary as you progress through your diet. I bet if it is a woman, and you tell her you have already lost 100 pounds and it is suppose to go another 50-75, she'll have an answer for you. Better truthful than sorry....... XXOO -- Congrats to you that you have to worry about this!!!!

I know I'm late responding, but had to put my 2 cents in....
put your "goal" weight in there - it won't be long until you will be there anyway!
Talking about licenses - in WI we only have to renew every 8 years now, so I don't have to renew until 2012. I now, officially, weigh less than what it says on my drivers license. I have had it set at 220 for years - and I am at 118!!!!!
