TMI... Normal vs. Lactose intolerance...

So I had my first bowel movement post surgery 7 days ago... My colon is not happy - they said it would probably be liquid, but my colon is noisy and talking to me still now over an hour after.  On the other hand - had my first full liquids today - skim milk with CIB.  Think this sounds normal for new post op or reaction to the lactose?

Pretty normal to have noisy intestines after surgery.  If you're really concerned or are in pain, I would contact your surgeon just to ask.

I get some of the loudest and strangest noises sometimes...  And I'm 8 weeks out!  But I am noticing it is less than before, it's not painful-just embarrassing sometimes, and happens more with milk.  I started drinking Lactaid with my CIB, but still the same issue, not as bad though.  I'm thinking that when the Lactaid is gone I'll try Silk - I've heard good things about that.  Right now whenever I drink the CIB i also take a Gas-X  meltable strip. I would recommend you call the doc or nut if you are in pain, or if you are really concerned.  They may have some great advice for you.  The best advice anyone can give you is to call your doc or nut, we aren't doctors just fellow losers! Congrats on your surgery, hope all else is going well for you. Debi

No - no pain - just liquid stool and loud bowels.  We'll see what happens.  I had yogurt for breakfast - see if I get a similar reaction - or I may just have to wait and see what happens when I start normal food!  Hehe.

So very normal.  I had liquid BMs for the first month - liquid in/liquid out and the noise thing is normal too - your bowels were practically empty post surgery and get them to "normal" on liquids is not gonna happen until you start adding more protein. NORMAL!!!! Good luck!
