I'm no longer obese just overweight!
I love being overweight!!!! Just had to share with you.
However, DH and I went to a post-Christmas party last night. I was SO excited because I found a dress I liked a Kohl's and it was a size large! I also bought a shirt off the clearance rack that was a L. When I tried it on at home it fit - and it wasn't stretchy material.
So back to the however, both the dress and the shirt have the empire waist. Last night at dinner a woman at our table asked when I was due! I said "Um I'm not and if I hadn't lost 103 pounds in the last year that comment would probably make me cry".
My FIL was watching the kids and I asked him if I looked pregnant when I got home. He looked at me with a crazy look and said absolutely not. There wasn't even that "uncomfortable, I don't know what to say" silence.
Needless to say the dress and the shirt are being returned. I just don't want to feel self-concious every time I wear them that someone else will think I'm expecting.
Even though someone asked this non-pregnant woman when I'm due - I still feel great. It feels good to feel good!
People can be so insensitive that sometimes you just have to give it back to them. The last time someone asked me when I was due, I said "the same day you are" to which they replied, oh, I'm not pregnant, and I said, Neither am I. Then I smiled and walked away. Not every obese person is pregnant and not every pregnant person looks pregnant, so asking someone when they are due is a terribly rude question!!!
On another note, what the heck is up with empire waists!!! I wore them in the 60's and 70's, I dont want to wear them now!!!! And yes, with my huge hooters and still being "overweight" I would look preggers in them....give me some normal clothes in the stores, please!!!!!
You wear those clothes with pride, there are millions of us who wish we wore size L in anything, even maternity...LOL

Congratulations on being OVERWEIGHT!!! Not having "obese" in your classification must feel fabulous. I'm so glad you can focus on the positive when stupidiotic people attack. Keep up that positive attitude - that will take you anywhere you want to go!
Love ya girlie
Tracy
I noticed that with empire waist items as well. Some make me look preggers and some don't. Perhaps its the way the fabric lays and pattern.
Either way, I always get a second opinion! God knows the bakery is closed, as the oven is broken, so theres no chance of me bakin' any buns....but no one else knows that!
PEOPLE CAN BE SO RUDE - SHE WAS JUST AN EVIL PERSON WANTING TO MAKE SOMEONE FEEL DOWN BECASUE HER LIFE IS SO MISERABLE!
WEAR WHAT YOU WANT AND DO NOT WORRY WHAT OTHERS THINK, DO NOT NEED THE STRESS. I AM GOING BACK TO WORK TOMORROW AND GOING TO WEAR AN EMPIRE SHIRT AND IF ANYONE ASK IF I AM WITH CHILD, THEY WILL GET AN EAR FULL.
ROCK IT GIRL - YOU HAVE LOST OVER 100 POUNDS AND IT IS YOUR TIME TO SHINE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE.
Seriously, it takes a special kind of stupid to ask a question like that. And MY reply to someone asking when I'm due might be "Shortly after your lobotomy."
You have made an AMAZING transformation, and I'm SO HAPPY for your positive attitude! I think it's one of the most important things we can do for ourselves - not just following WLS, but ALWAYS! To take the comments, well intended or not, and turn them into something we can smile or even laugh about, it's GOT to be healthy!!
