Waiting my 1/2 hour, 3 meals portian first, I walk 2 miles aday plus swim and dance. no snacks.?????????What could I be doing wrong? I keep hearring how glad people are that they had the surgery.  Im thinking why did I do this to loss 4lbs in 3 weeks. I know Im feeling sorry for my self, but Its what I feel.  HELP

I would want to scream too.  What does your dr's office say?  Could you be on a plateau?

No, a plateau is where you don't lose weight OR inches for over a month.

Who's your surgeon? What are you eating for meals? How much are you eating?  Have you lost any inches? Sometimes if you don't lose weight right away, you lose inches instead. You don't lose both at the same time. Take a breath, it WILL happen.

I'm so sorry to hear how frustrating your experience is.  Please try not to get so down.  Your body has gone through 2 major surgeries in a very short period of time - it is reelling from the shock of those surgeries.  You've most likely had IV fluids poured into your system during this time too.  Your body is fighting to protect itself from the weightloss because it's still in shock.  I would almost bet that one day in the very near future your body is going to lose the fight to hang on to all the weight and your going to drop the weight super fast. Also, just any FYI about the exercise.  I'm learning through some of the trainers at the YMCA that a lot of people don't lose weight through exercise because they are working too hard.  I know this sounds hard to believe but when you work in the anerobic stage (too hard) you're actually burning sugar and not fat.  Fat of course is what we should burn.  I'm signing up to do a class where they test your metabolism so you know exactly where you heart rate should be while working out to maximize the fat burn.  So if you're really going at it when you're working out you might be doing more bad that good - slow it down a little in that case. I really wish you the best of luck - hang in there - this surgery cannot NOT work - give it time, try different things and you WILL lose the weight and I would almost guarantee that in another month you will say that you are glad you had this surgery. Take care and keep us all updated! Tracy

I know it is hard not to be discouraged but try to hang on. The weight is from all the fuids you have recieved. Tracy is right one day it will start dropping really fast. Your menu looks good. Just don't give up! Hugs, connie d

I had two surgeries and some major complications as well. In fact when I went home from the hospital the second time I weighed 60 more than I did BEFORE surgery. It took my body a long time to catch up. However, within a month, after the scale not really moving, I was down a pants size and two shirt sizes. I couldn't believe how I could loose inches without loosing pounds, but initially after the trauma of two surgeries, your body doesn't know what the heck to do!! You are doing just fine, and you need to check inches as well as just pounds. You can't NOT loose weight, it is just taking your body a little longer to be willing to give up those pounds. I am now 7 months out, and even though my family almost lost me, and I was really sick for a long time, I don't regret it for a moment. I am now down over 103 pounds, and I went for a month and a half at 3 months out without loosing a pound. However, I am down to a size 10 in pants and a M shirt, so hang in there!!!

My surgery date was November 200, 2007, and my body seems to have already found a pattern for loss.  I lost 10 pounds the first week, then only lost a couple the next week, then lost nothing for a week, then lost a few more over the next few weeks, to total 19 pounds lost after 4 weeks.  Then I stalled again, then I had a great week, where I lost about 7 pounds, then nothing for almost 2 weeks.  The scale finally started to move again the other day.  How are your clothes fitting?  It's a little frustrating that we don't lose at a constant rate, but I will tell you that this month I have really been acheiving some significant changes in my body.  My pants size has dropped at least 2 sizes, and I think I'm getting close to crossing down to the next size.  Shirts that I used to have to tug and stretch before I could wear, are now very often too baggy.  So, while the scale may not be telling me what I want, my clothes are.  Remember this isn't a cure for fatness, a cure means the problem goes aways immediately.  This is a process, that we've been given a tool to use to help us succeed.   It's early yet, we will get there!  No matter now much or how little in a week, losing is losing, and it's really hard to mess this up, especially this early out.  But if you are having serious doubts, call your surgeons office, they may have some advise, or words of wisdom, for you.

Putting in my two cents .....   At nine weeks out typically most programs don't allow you  1/2 cup of anything solid until after your six month check up- so I am wondering about the 1/2 cup of vegetables you are eating supper?   I think that you should be only having 1/4 cup of food at meals maximum.
The manual from my program still says two Tablespoons of vegetable or 1/4 cup of fruit at  12 months post-op.
I'm not an expert but I think maybe you might be eating too much?  Or maybe you work out so much you need more protein to loose weight?  I would revisit any program materials you were given from your surgeon.  I think that you should be journaling & measuring all  your food and maybe make an appointment or phone call to your nut.  just to check in and make sure you are on track. .
