I'm almost two weeks out and feeling fabulous.  I am looking forward to eating soft foods on Tuesday.  Down almost 20 lbs since surgery.  I'm so worried about not feeling full.  I don't feel anything - and I know that is usual.  But I feel so good that I wonder if the surgery REALLY happened.  I know its crazy.  I have the scars to prove it.  But I am just so darned scared of stretching my pouch and overeating again.  I don't eat any more than the 1/4 cup of whatever it is. How long before you start feeling full?  Is the feeling that I have in my upper chest (similar to the feeling that I got when I felt like I had heartburn) my new hunger feeling?  I don't want to mess things up.   Kelly P.S.  I'd like to join the Eagan coffee group on Saturdays.  So watch for me at your next meeting.

Hi I am 1 month post op and you will know when you are full.  I wasn't sure either if I had the surgery until I ate to fast, or took to big of a sip of water trust me you will know.  It does not feel good you will feel pressure in the upper part of your chest and it is uncomfortable!!!!!!!!!!!  I never feel hungry I only eat cuz they tell me I have to.  I am not sure if this helps you beings I to am so new at this.  I wish you all the luck in htis journey....keep us posted!!!!!!!  Hugs Marsha

Hi Kelly.....I rarely feel hungry either.  I measure everything I eat so I know I am not eating too much. I just feel comfortable after I eat.  I too eat because it is just time to eat more then anything else. Love WLS!!!! Hugs, connie d

I felt that way after surgery too (like the surgery didn't really happen). But, the first time you over eat you WILL know that you have a small pouch. And the first time you dump, you'll DEFINATELY know that you had surgery. YOu will also start to feel that full feeling once you progress into pureed foods. I don't remember if I felt it with soft foods. But I know I felt it with pureed.  Good luck! Lori

This is a question I have had since my surgery 12-18-07.  I think I am one of the unfortunate ones that actually feels hunger.  My full signal did not start happening until this week.  I could eat 1/2 cup liquids no problem but when I added pureed tuna or chicken with a little cream soup or mayo I could not do 1/2 cup.  The full trigger didn't happen until I had already consumed it.  It's much like Marsha says a tight full feeling in your chest so I have scaled back to about 1/4 to 1/3 cup of pureed and if I wait about another 20 minutes after eating I get the full satisfied feeling.  It's interesting because before WLS I never even woriied about a full feeling just continued eating until the food was gone. LOL.  THIS IS NEW TERRITORY FOR ALL OF US that are new.  I wish I never felt hungry but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Good Luck! Bonnie
