Yesterday was my anniversary of my surgery!  I am two years out and although I am not a regular poster of this board I just had to pop in and say hi to everyone and to let everyone who is a pre-op or new post-op to keep up the work (and there is a lot of it) and you will be grateful and pleased with the surgery.  Two years out and I am still exercising 3X/week, watching what I eat and drinking all tha****er. Best wishes to everyone (except those folks who put out that People magazine every year with weight loss stories and have the words NO TRICKS!  NO SURGERY! in the same sentence as if to inply that WLS is a magic trick or something) and keep on being a "loser!"

Congrats on your 2 years!  How are you doing?  Are you still losing? Did you make it to the goal you wanted? Have you had any plastics?  Just wanna know more about you!  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks - I can't take credit for it - I stole it from a medallion that someone gave to MJ.  I really want to find the medallion but they were out of them.  Oh well! Have a great day Jeanne!

Tracy - to answer your questions:  I am doing GREAT.  I am no longer losing, I had about 125 pounds to lose and I lost it all.  I am on the taller side  - 5 ft 8 inches - so maybe that is the reason I don't need plastic surgery.  My goal was not really a number on the scale (well it kinda was but I didn't want to obsess on it) but also a size.  Size 12 Lee jeans.  Not an old pair from my "thin days" just I think size 12 is good for me.  I have actually gaines about 7 pounds lately but I am not worried about it......I just need to up my exersice a bit more and I'll be fine.  I actually have had a lot of people not recognize me from a few years ago, which I think is pretty funny.   I beleive I went into it with a good mental attitude - I never mourned food, in fact I was super grateful for having surgery put up boundaries for me.  I understand that it hapens to some people, it just didn't happen to me. I would do it all again - Dr. Svendson is the best.  He is a super doctor and a great man.   I actually had a craving the other day for McDonalds french fries!!!  I hadn't had any in over two years.  Greasy, salty, full of sodium, nothing good for you....man were they tasty!  But not a daily or weekly thing for me, I promise!  Maybe once a month, if that.  My kids prefer Arby's, anyways! I like to say that WLS surgery is kinda like having a baby:  It will change the way you live for the rest of your life but you'll be really glad you did it.

Congratulations on your 2 year Surgiversary!!!  It sounds like you are doing great...awesome attitude. Keep on drinking tha****er and following the rules and we won't mess this up! I just let the other junk just roll off my back. Those people that say things like that probably couldn't get approved for WLS!! If they haven't tried surgery they probably will someday. We all know how that dieting business goes!! Have a wonderful day....glad you took the time to stop by. Hugs, connie d

Congratulations!

Thanks for posting.  I'm still in the decision-making mode and it's so good to hear positives from people who are some time out and still doing fine.  I especially like hearing how people are sooooo glad they had the surgery.  By the way, I'm with you on those People Magazine articles that infer that surgery is a "trick" or easy.  Maybe we should write in to them and ask them to include the wls folks who are no longer on pills, who are no longer diabetic, etc.  Get the real story out there.

Well, I'll step off my soapbox now.    All the best to you!

Kathy, it is my understanding that a year ago (or maybe two) someone from this board wrote a letter to the editor and it was published, saying hy, it is not a trick nor a gimmick....please lay off.  My other beef is with Oprah:  She seems to chap WLS whenever she has the chance, as does Dr. Phil now that I think about it.  But to further chat about my earlier post, I am super grateful that I had the surgery,  I hate to use the word never but I have never regretted it, ever.  Now when I woke up from teh surgery (and mine was laprascopic as opposed to open) holy moly.....that was painful.  But you know what?  Later that day, it wasn't so bad, and the day after that it wasn't bad at all.  My surgery was on a Tuesday, I was home by Thursday and by Friday I was off pain meds completely.  I took Tylenol 3 at night but only to help me sleep, not for pain.   So good luck in your journey, no matter where it takes you.  One other piece of advice:  Surround yourself with POSITIVE people, as you will need all the positive energy you can get!  It is a big decision, obviously!
