Second thoughts
After reading and researching as much as I can I am starting to have second thoughts. I already have stomach and intestinal problems so am very concerned about this. I can not say I have gone yes sir this is just what I need like some I have seen here. It is scary to think of having your insides cut and re arranged. Does anyone else feel like this ? I am also very sure that my insurance will not pay for about 1,500.00 of what Mayo requires done. So that is also a factor.

Love yourself first then loving others will come easy.
Only do what you are comfortable with so you don't have feelings of regret later.
Personally, if I didn't have it done, I would have died within the next 10 years -- maybe less. So having my insides cut and re-arranged sounded better than the alternative. And lots of people have second thoughts, especially when they get closer to having the surgery.
For the money part, I can't speak for you. But maybe they will do a payment plan thing for you?
Just be sure you are doing what is best for you -- not anyone else!!!

Just my .02 cents worth, but YOU have to be totally at peace with YOUR decision. Also, the whole cut the stomach and re-arrange wasn't scarey for me because I knew that FOR ME the lapband would not have worked. FOR ME, I researched and knew that they don't lose as fast and FOR ME it would be just like another diet where getting "not fast" enough results would depress ME and thus I would have failed. I also knew that I needed to make PERMANANT change. Also, my insurance was a deciding factor as in the 2 options for me was RNY or LAPBAND. That is how I decided and felt at peace with MY decision. It was right FOR ME, not everyone. I really hope that you can decide what is RIGHT FOR YOU and feel at peace with it!! Also, take your time as this is an important decision and once you are approved most insurances are good with that approval for a year. I had started the process once and had to back out due to pregnancy but after baby was born it took me another 2 years to feel at peace with going thru with it. Believe me when it's right YOU will know!!! Best to you!!

You are what you EAT and WHO you hang out with! Choices=Outcome~ what's YOUR choice??
I'm not perfect but I am going to die trying!!!
Hello Janie...you have to be totally comfortable with YOUR decision. Don't let other people choose for you.
You will know if and when you are ready.
It took me a couple years to decide...now I am so very happy. This was the best choice for me. I agreed lapband wouldn't have worked for me either. I needed something permanent. My tool is working great!! I haven't been sick once and no bathroom issues or any pain. I am one of the lucky ones. I thank God everyday for this opportunity.
Good luck making your choice.

Janie-
I know this is a very big decison, so take your time to make it. It took me five years to come to this decision. I am pretty sure no one is ever completely prepared for all that will come their way with this, but we aren't really for anything in life.
Good luck on making your decision. You'll be in my prayers.

Janie,
If you can be happy losing weight slowly, but surely, the lap band is a great choice. It is permanent and will still be there to help you maintain your weight loss a few years later when all the old urges are resurfacing. Are there any support groups you could attend and meet with people who have acutally had the surgeries? It helps to talk to people who have had it done. Make the choice that's best for you. Jean B.

Honor your gut, keep researching and take all the time you need. I too am glad I did this, but being further out (3 years this week) I've seen the struggles people have, physically and mentally, as they get further out. I'm not trying to scare you, just telling you that it isn't a perfect road and to honor your gut. You'll do it if, and when, you're ready.
