I'm so used to cooking for 3 adults, but my daughter just moved out and my son is in the army and leaving again tomorrow.  Now for the first time since my surgery I'll have to cook for just me, and I can't each much-you all understand that! My question is does anyone have any high protein meal ideas for someone 7 weeks out who can eat real food now, but doesn't want enough left overs for a month?  Or do you have ideas for meals that freeze really well??? Thanks so much! Debi

Hi Debi,  Fish is the one meat I can tolerate well, and walmart grocery and Target grocery carry different types of fish in individual packs... something 4 oz pieces for 88 cents or something. I buy those and buy my veggies frozen so I can just dish out how much I want without wasting much. Hope this helps.

Not sure what you can tolerate, but someone just suggested to me to make a pan of egg bake and load it up with protein sources like cheeses & sausage, bacon, ham, etc. That way, you can slice it into individual servings & freeze. Just pop in micro to warm a piece through. Also, I know there is a recipe out there for peanut butter balls (p.b., instant milk powder, etc.)...maybe post to the Recipe forum or for sure the RNY board, if nobody hear has it. Frozen meatballs - easy to unthaw and brainless cooking - gotta love that! Trader Joe's has an awesome, high protein one!

Any meat can be frozen and reheated, just prepackage them in 2 oz sizes.  Also, canned chicken is awesome wiht mayo and mustard(or flavor of choice).  You could go to the deli (like Byerly's) and buy that AWESOME seafood salad.  Go to the grocery store and check things out.  I buy Shrimp frozen in the bag so that I can take out selected number of shrimp and frozen veggies to go with.  Yogurt is another that works well.  Cheese and whole wheat crackers, Chili is another that you can make and then freeze in small 1/2 cup containers and a big one in case of company.  The possiblities are endless!  Best to you!

I second that....frozen shrimp works great!!  And any imitation seafood products work well in the fridge for long periods of time.  And Chili is great frozen into smaller containers and taken out as you want them.  A lot of times I will even freeze the yogurt for a change of pace...my kids love it.  But Diamondgirl also had great suggestion with the eggbake...I just discovered that one and I'm a year out....LOL

I had surgery on the same day as you so we are equally as far out....I stuggle with what to make also....here's some of what I have found..... 1. Bean and Ham soup...good protien and easy to freeze in those little 4 oz disposable tub/bowls ( see below---I must have like 15 of them frozen now) 2. 3 oz tuna packets...I only make 1/2 then seal well and use other 1/2 within 2 days. 3. Wendy's chili or deli chili...eat part and freeze the other part for another day. 4. I made a roast for my family...I put little pieces in with the mashed potatoes and froze in those containers so I could make it again when I want. 5. Taco's...yum! Make some meat (freeze small amounts in those little bowl/tubs) use the low carb/high fiber soft shell (you'll only eat 1/2 of 1 soft taco anyways) add your cheese, beans, lettuce and sauce. Good protien and with small amounts frozen, you can pull it out and have it anytime you want. Mini Round: 8 Containers & Lids (1/2 CUP / 4 OZ) These are just some of the things I've found.  And these gladware items are FANTASTIC, perfect for us who have had WLS and they come in all sizes. I also keep some deli meat and cheese around to make a roll-up for quick protien. Good luck! Sherry-

You could also go out to allrecipe.com and you can alter the recipe for the number of servings you need.  Say instead of 6 servings, you can tell it you only want 2 and it will make the recipe for you.
