Depression

I am still battling with my depression and it has only gotten worse since I moved back to my apartment and am again living on my own.  I met with my psychiatrist last week and he prescribed a SAD light to see if maybe that will help since I ususally struggle with my depression around this time.  I got the light and used it for the first time yesterday and am really hoping it will work.  I heard from one person that results are usually seen within a week or two if it is going to work.  I am also hoping that once I get into my regular routine tomorrow and next week I will be able to keep myself busy enough to not think of the depression.  I am also really hoping that by exercising each day it will help as well.

I have a few friends who suffer from the same thing. One gal goes suntanning and that helps. Others plan trips to sunny places. I have also heard that the SAD light works as well.

Nicole...I am sorry to hear you are struggling with that awful monster...DEPRESSION!!  I use the SAD light and it helps me a lot. I have used one for a number of years now. It does take a bit before you notice a difference. Give it a good try....I hope it helps you too. Hugs, connie d

Thank you I am planning to give it a good 2-3 weeks to see if it works.  I have it at work during the weekdays since I am not home during the sunlight hours.  It is good to hear from someone that has it and it works I pray that this is the answer to getting that ugly monster back in its cage.

((((Nicole))) I've battled depression & anxiety since 2000 - it really is a battle, but one that can be won with time, hard work, and support.  I tried several different meds, therapy modes (individual/group, etc.), and eventually I found what worked for me.

It's hard work, and as you lose weight (I see you just had surgery - congrats!) you'll "dump" estrogen and the emotions may seem heightened for a while.  It does get better. My best suggestion - get out, try to get active (I see lots of coffee meetings).  Please feel free to email me privately if you want. Hugs from an "oldie" and a lurker, Megan
