It's been a LONG time!
It's been a very long time since I have posted to this board, but I had to share my success with you all!
I had my surgery in April 06. My highest weight right at surgery was 410lbs. As of this past week, I FINALLY hit below 200lbs. Today my scale said 196.
I can not even tell you how great this feels. I have been losing a few lbs each month, but I never thought I would get below that 200lbs mark. My surgeons goal was 203lbs. I can finally say that i made that and then some. I have been working with a plastic surgeon and I need to get to 170-180 before plastics. I know I will get there!
NOW...on to the complication...
I will be calling my doc tomorrow to try and get an appointment, but I am wondering if others have heard of this or experienced this...
I have been having horrible pain in my right upper abdomen. I was in the ER twice and then admitted to the hospital for a day. I have what the local surgeon is calling "gravel" in my gallbladder, but this is something that he says shouldn't be causing me as much pain as I am having. The problem is that he did a CT scan when he admitted me to see if there is some other reason for the pain. They had contrast with the CT. The CT showed contrast in my "old" stomach. Somehow...stuff is getting in there. This is what the local doc told me. He didn't know if it was enough to cause my pain, if it's not supposed to be that way, etc. That is why I will be contacting Dr. Jones a.s.a.p. on Monday. Any input anyone might have would be SUPER beneficial!
First off, congrats on your success! I remember getting to below 200 and how I felt. Keep up the great work.
As far as pain, I'm 2+ years out and was just diagnosed with an ulcer. The CT scan didn't show anything so I had to have a scope on Friday. They found an ulcer outside of my pouch and in the upper intestine. I am now taking 80 mg. of Prilosec (40 mg. 2x a day) and that has made a huge difference. My pain was between the breast bone and the belly button almost across my abdomen. It felt like a ripping/burning sensation.
The nurses at PN are great, and I'm sure they will help you figure out what is going on.
Good luck!
Shannin
