This morning at coffee with the Eagain folks, I mentioned that I would like to see the operation before I actually have it.  Someone suggested going on You Tube, so I did.  It was very good for me to see the whole thing.  They actually show a live operation and tell exactly what is going on each step of the way.  Has anyone else found that helpful?  I would sugges****ching it if you have any desire.

If anyone wants to know why the liquid diet is a necessary evil, I'm sure they must show the liver on the You Tube snippet.  Getting the fat off the liver is soooo important.  Wouldn't want the surgeon to mistake it for a blob of fat!! Linda

I watched it a few times prior to surgery including the night before.  I found it very helpful to know exactly what was going to be going on and it helped to answer some of the questions I had as  well.

I have done/seen 5 of these in the past week and a half! I am going to miss doing them when I go to my straight evening hours. I have also watched some on www.or-live.com. Keep in mind every surgeon does theirs a little different, and sometimes a lot different.

Do you mean you work in this surgery?  You have done/watched.......?  Maybe I'm misreading this?   It is truly amazing!  I don't like watching those kinds of things, but I guess I could see it in a diff. light when it is going to me

Yep, I work in surgery. I am a surgical technologist. I set everything up that will be needed for a surgery and keep one step ahead and pass all of the instruments and assist etc. I LOVE LOVE LOVE what I do. I do all kinds of surgery, not just RNY's. Soon I will be learning hearts and heads.

THAT is so cool!  When I was watching the surgery yeaterday I was thinking that was really a interesting job.  They were saying how important a good assisstant is...it really  makes the surgery go much smoother with a good assisstant...obviously...but wow...you really have an important job.  What type of schooling do you need for that?   Hearts and heads next...wowseers.....I'm in awww!
