I'm 2 1/2 years out and I still don't eat pancakes.  It turns to paste and it hurts.  Be carefull with the syrup it's pure sugar and even the low sugar one still has quite a bit.  I can't eat anything over 15 grams of sugar or I dump big time.  All I can say is give it a try and see what happens.

Marsha, Glad to hear you aren't having any food problems.  I too can eat all the foods and have nothing that doesn't sit right.  I've been eating soups and pureed tuna and melted cheeses.  What worries me is I can eat my 1/2 cup easily.   Week one with the dietician I was 7 lbs down from surgery day.  I need to stay on full liquids and pureed for 3 weeks before I move on to the soft foods.  I've had cottage cheese, Laughing Cow cheese melted and Mozarella cheese as well as pureed tuna.  They all taste good and I've had no issues.  I can drink water in much larger sips than last week too.  I was beginning to wonder if they forgot to make a pouch???????????   I even called the Bariatric Center to see if there was something wrong.  Debbie told me that liquids just move through the pouch faster and you won'y have that full feeling so I will accept that and continue my journey.  Good news on the jeans and weight loss.  It's a good feeling to know that everything you lose is gone forever! I can have one tiny little pancake, not much bigger than a sausage patty!  And then I use either SF jam or SF syrup on it. For me this is a very rare treat, maybe once every 4 or 5 months.

Hi Marsha, Be careful of pancakes, especially this early out.  A bite or two might be all right - but I'd leave the syrup off or use sugar free.  I'm nearly 5 years out and can eat virtually anything - but every time I eat pancakes, I dump.  Probably because I'm an idiot and pour on too much syrup - but in any event, I leave them alone.  I'll sneak a bite from my husband's plate, but that's as far as I go.  Any more and I'm in the car with the seat back - sick.  I think I get too much syrup on them because they soak it up so much. Congrats to you on your success!

I haven't dumped on anything sweet.  Granted, I haven't had a lot of sweet stuff, but none of the things I've had a bite of have made me dump.  Fats?  I'm pretty sure they were the culprit the one time I DID dump. BUT -  getting STUCK is pretty frickin' miserable, honey...  and any kind of soft bread-like product will sit like clay in my pouch!  So I don't even go there anymore.  Two times was one too many.  A lot of people will warn against even trying things that might not go down well.  I'm not a subscriber to that theory - if I was that disciplined, I probably wouldn't have gotten obese in the first place.  So try a LITTLE BIT of whatever you want, but be prepared to accept the consequences.  Because sooner or later, there will be some.   And frankly, I'd wait a bit longer to even try anything.  You are SO fresh out of surgery, you really ought to consider letting your new little pouch heal up a bit longer if you're going to test it.  Just my opinion, tho.  Kinda like I think you're BEAUTIFUL!!!

I'm six months out and just tried my first pancake last week.  I used SF syrup and only ate 3 small bites and it just didn't feel right.  I probably won't be trying them again for a while - although I'm going to make a waffle this weekend.

Hey there Marsha: I would think pancakes would be too dense for you...at this point......I just had pancakes at 12 months out 2 weeks ago for the first time since surgery. GOOD LUCK, and congrats! Dr. Benn is the best! Megan
