Help, I need ideas for fluids.

I've been struggling this past week with fluids.  I'm still hypersensitive to sweet, or syrupy, drinks, and sometimes I even have trouble drinking water because all I can taste are chemicals (even in bottled water).  I can't do Crystal Lite or any of those at all really, and I even struggle with propel sometimes.  Does anybody have any suggestions on beverages that might be more tolerable and give me some variety?  Since surgery it's been back and forth with tolerating flavors.  One week I can almost guzzle the water and propel, and the next I can't stand anything.  I know it will get better, but for now I need ideas.  I feel like I'm overlooking something that should be obvious.

Christi, don't forget about SF popsicles and broths.  They count as liquids and are something a little different.  Hang in there, this too shall pass!  Jean

I really do want to forget about broths, though!  I do forget to buy my popsicles, so thanks for reminding me about them, I picked some more up today.

Does Dr. Baker allow milk?  'cuz that's a double whammy, liquid AND protein!  I know it all gets pretty tiring, but just make the choice to get in what you need to in order to be healthy.  You don't have to like it - you'll love the results enough to put up with the liquids!

I have the lactaid milk cause I have developed a bit of lactose intolerance.  It's so dumb that i keep forgetting to drink it, but I guess that's a holdover from pre-op life.  I never was good at drinking my milk before, but I need to make sure I work more milk into my daily regimen.  Thanks for the boost!

I know how you feel.  Except for coffee (very limited and I drink 8 ounces of extra water for every 8 ounces of coffee I drink), watered down 3/1 crystal lite, and skim-milk, other liquids make me sick to my stomach.  I absolutely hate the taste of plain water.  I had forgotten about broth counting as liquid (trying to forget the liquid diet stage) .... so on cold days like today, I'm gonna make my Mrs. Grass soup. Thanks Barb,  I forgot about the Mrs. Grass soup.  I like the Light Minute Maid lemonade in the dairy case.  I water it down with water about half and half.  It has a little tartness with a little sugar.  My dietician said it's alright to drink.  I struggled with liquids before I found this stuff. What's Mrs. Grass soup?  I had almost successfully blocked the liquid diet stage out of my memory, until I posted this plea for help.  Now, I am shuddering in horror again.

what about decaf tea? they make all kinds of different flavors and you can sweeten it with splenda if you want or leave it plain?

I took some time today to really look at the tea selection at the grocery store, and I was surprised at how many flavors in decaf there are out there!  I bought a couple and am looking forward to giving them a try.  Thanks for the suggestion!
