I am new to the message boards and need some help. I had an awesome Christmas and didn't splurge on any treats, but today I'm very tired. I'm not sure if I haven't been getting enough water or protien or if it is normal for me to be so tired at this point? I went to bed last night at my normal old person time 9:30 and slept until 9 this morning and still took a 3 hour nap. Is this normal??

Probably.  But, I would call your surgeons office just to be sure!

Totally and completely normal. It takes a couple of months to get your energy level up. You're not eating that many calories yet. Are you taking b-12 yet?

No my Dr said I will start the b12 at my 3 month visit.

With some programs multivitamins and B-12 start after 1 month; Vitamin C and Iron at six months, and always 64 ounces of water.  You should have been given a minimum of protein to get in a day and whether you do it with protein shakes or protein water, low protein or fluids can also cause tired feelings.  Check with your doctor to make sure but pump up the protein and fluids and see if that makes a difference too.  Good Luck!!!

Hey Kim!  Welcome to the MN Board!  Great to have you join us!  Congrats on your surgery! I would say at this point it is pretty normal to still get those days of exhaustion.  It took me a good month or so to not have to take a nap during the day.  Make sure your drinking as much as you can also, that is very important.  You don't want to get dehydrated.  I know Dr. Rupp didn't give me a minimum of protein, just make sure you're getting the protein first.   If you're it gets worse or you are worried, I would definately call and talk to them.  That's what they are there for.   Take care and keep us updated Kim!

I agree with everyone else, it's very normal to have days of complete exhaustion.  I took 3 weeks off and when I went back to work I still had a few days where I went home early because I was just dog tired.  Your body just went through major surgery, the anestesia alone causes havoc on your body much less all your organs having been moved all around and then add on top of that the fact htat you're getting a tiny little fraction of calorie intake that you used to and it all adds up to TIREDVILLE! Sleep when your body needs to - it's telling you that it needs more rest for healing.  If it goes on too long make sure to see your doc about it though. Good luck and congrats on surgery.

Thanks everyone for your advice!  It helps to ask someone else who has had it done!!
