Support groups

Hi All, I had lap band surgery this past October and am doing fine.  So far I have lost 40lbs, which I am very proud of.....But I would like to know if there are any WLS support groups in the Robbinsdale, Crystal, Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center, Plymouth, or New Hope areas. I love this board and get a lot of support and information here, but it would be nice to meet others face-to-face sometimes. Thanx

I don't really know where those cities are, but I know the U of M has one on Wednesdays, I believe.  You can call and ask for their bariatric center to find out more details.

Well that would be nice, I work at the University.  Not the hospital, on the St. Paul campus, but I could get there on the campus bus I'm sure.  Thanks

HI!  Are you talking about the hospital support groups or coffee support groups?   There are coffee get togethers all over the place and when there isn't, you can always start one.  I started one for Western WI.   Watch for posts around the middle of the week and there may be one posted for the area you are looking at.  Everyone is invited to ANY of them. Congrats on the 40 lbs that is FABULOUS!

Really, either would be fine.  I have seen the coffee groups on the board, but I was always to shy to ask if anyone was invited.  But now I just want to meet people I have something in common with.  I will keep an eye out for those. Thank you!

Been off the boards for a few days because of the busy holiday, but I just wanted to make you aware of one this Saturday (every other Saturday happens to fall this weekend) at the Caribou in Byerly's in Maple Grove!  If that's do-able for you, we meet in the general seating area between Caribou and the deli - you'd be MOST welcome to join us!  9am, let me know if you need better directions!

Oh thank you for the invite.  I wil try to get there.  This may be on eof the only saturday mornings my daughter does not have a basketball game.  I think I can look up that location no problem. Again, thank you!
