Depression

I just needed a safe place to confess that my depression is coming back and I am kind of scared.  I know part of this is because it is diffcult to remember my second dose of my antidepressant in the afternoon.  I think the other part is the time of year for the past 3 years I have not gotten through the holidays without a trip to the hospital and a 1 to 2 week stay in the psych ward.  I know that I should be happy that I am loosing weight and I am having to pull up my pants and I am getting complements from people that they can see the weight loss, but instead I feel lethargic, depressed  and irritable.  I am trying to use the tools I have learned in therapy to help and so far no major melt downs.  I just pray that I can get through Christmas without breakingdown.

Sorry that you are going through a difficult time. I'm glad that you were able to communicate your feelings to us on the board. Perhaps having a place to let out your feeling will help.  I will keep you in my prayers in hopes that you will begin to feel better. You have just made a major change in your live and I am proud for you with all the good things you have already done for yourself and all the good that will come your way as you begin the "new you" Wishing you all the best this holiday season.
God Bless, Angela

((((HUGS))))  I feel for you and am proud of you.  Maybe you might want to see if you can talk to your therapist and he/she can give you tips and such to better prepare so that you stay out of the hospital.  After my surgery, I had to switch my AD meds a few times.  It felt as if they would work for a bit and then not.  Also, with losing weight your hormones are going crazy~ NOT YOU!!  Just feels crappy, I KNOW!!  Hang in hon and we are here for you!!!  But stay on top of your meds!!  ((((HUGS))))

Right now I only have a psychiatrist, but I see him next week and plan on sharing what has been going on.  I have been on almost all of the ADs out there and so I am hoping I won't have to start trying them all over again.  I remembered to take my 2nd dose today and will be taking them with me if I am going out at all around the time I am set to take them.  I hadnot thought about the hormones...thanks for the reminder. Thanks for the hugs they are greatly appreciated!

Do NOT forget to take doses of your meds - especially right now when you're so vulnerable. Get a watch that has a timer you can set on it or set your cell phone's alarm. Make sure to keep some in your purse to be with you at all times. I had no problems after surgery regarding my depression, and I"ve been on meds since I was 15. Make sure to keep your friends and family close to you at this time. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help. Keep yourself busy. Don't let yourself wallow and hide under the covers. Come here to OH and we'll pick you up the best we can.  HUGE HUGS, Farrah

Thanks sooo much for your honesty and sharing with us.  This type of sharing definitely helps others who are struggling and don't have such courage to post.  Even though we don't know it, every post helps someone else!!!  Great job.... I am having my depression med's up'd this week as they don't seem to be working the same as before surgery -- I've been watching it and it is becoming clear as some of the symptoms are coming back that I need the dose increased.  I'm sure it is because of the speed in which they now go through my system.  But I'm going to ask about taking them at different times too -- maybe the medication will work better if it is in two doses. So thanks for your post -- it got my mind thinking on new questions to ask my doctor next week!!! XXOO
