ONCE AGAIN BERRY COULD NOT COME HOME
Evening friends. This is getting discouraging. Once again, Berry had to stay overnite. I will try to do a condensed version but I am usually a rambler. So please bear with me!
Berry had the surgery Tuesday morning. He got to his room around 3:30/4:00. He was very groogie and his stomach was in a lot of pain. It was also huge and very hard. He was up walking within a few hours but was not able to fart or burb. So around 6:00 Dr. Glass decided to have some X-Rays taken of his stomach. The x-rays looked fine but wanted to keep him one more nite. Decided to give him a silver bullet. How that helps with gas, Idon't know. But I am sure it must some how!
Got to the hospital today and Berry was in good spirits, he even was laughing. And so anxious to go home. Dr. Glass had been in in the morning and said he would be back about 4:00 and then he would let him know if he was going home. 4:00 came and went, 5:00 came and went. At that point Berry asked the nurse to try and get ahold of him and see what was going on. Dr Glass had left but Dr. B would be coming up to see him shortly. We waited another hour. The nurse came in and said that he wouldn't be in till 8:00. I guess they are conserned that he still isn't drinking much Boost and water. About 4 oz of Boost and the same for water. That was all day. It concerns me too. He says he is not one bit hungry, in fact, he feels stuffed. And he walks and walks but not must gas getting out still! So we figured he would be staying and sent me and my youngest daughter home. He was so upset and discouraged. Here he thought he was going home and then the waiting and the waiting. He was a mess of nerves so much so that it made his stomach hurt! That he does not need. Plus (I am going to vent a little bit here) he is in a room with a gentlement that did not have gastric bypass. The mans family brings him french fries and hambergers and pizza. There is a constant food flow. And the smell makes Berry sick. Plus his room is so small and there is so much medical equipment, computers, blood pressure machines, chairs and all that he is feeling clostraphobic! Plus the room is hot one minute and freezing the next! OK - I am done venting. Sorry. I would think that you would have a private room or at least one with someone else that has had gastric bypass. There I go venting some more. I feel so badly for Berry. Plus he hasn't slept much for 4 days and neither have I for that matter. Vent - Vent - Vent.
Now I think I am done. I will close for now. I need to call Berry and see what Dr. B said.
Take care all and thank you so so much for all your words of encouragement and prayers.......Lynn

Lynn, So sorry that Berry is still have some troubles. Hopefully you had some good news last night when you called and spoke to him about what the doctor said. Just have him keep walking and walking & try to get the liquids in and then he will be home very soon! Try to keep your spirits up as well you surgery is just around the corner. Remember everyone's body reacts differently to this surgery so chances are you won't have the same issues as your dear Berry! Take care and I will keep Berry and you in my prayers!

Hi Lynn, Sorry Berry didn't get to come home last night....as long as he's drinking today I bet they'll let him go. Make sure when he gets home that whether he wants to or not that he sips, sips, sips!! You will feel very full...but the fluids are VERY important. As one of the other posters said...these are not serious problems...THANK GOD! But they are real and uncomfortable and for that I am sorry he is going through them. As for the room situation....that's really crappy! If it happens again....SPEAK UP...there is no reason Berry or anyone else should have to be subject to that, especially if it's making them nauseas! Good luck next week....you'll be fine!! We'll all say an extra prayer for you to help eas your mind.
